according to my sister !!! ](*,)

I have a debate/discussion with her and we have to agreed to disagreed.
She said because of sin, that is why everyone is deformed in some way big or small.
That is why we must follow god she said.

I'm thinking sure i follow god but i don't follow humans !! ;)
Help me guys .....

Ask her if we should also follow the Bible's teachings when it comes to women. That they can be sold to another man by their fathers, that they have to marry people who rape them, that they cannot hold positions of authority, that they cannot wear jewelry or go out with their head uncovered, and that they are not allowed to speak in church.

If not, then asking you to follow the teachings of such a morally repugnant text as the Bible on the subject of being gay is hypocritical.

she will say the bible doesn't say that.

I wanted to say if i see a hot man, my penis stood up, what should i do but i didn't say for a civil discussion.

She said everyone, repeat everyone is deformed, thats why you must follow god. LOL. And i keep saying god accordding to human mouths holes. God is silent i said.

Knowing that I am imperfect, does inspire me to improve my self. My attempts at self improvement, will take my life time. It is in our efforts to improve our self, that we better the man, we once were.

Holy Scripture is not God.

So...what ever happened to the phrase, "we were all born in an image of God"

there's something like that in the Bible or something similar to that right? So if we're deformed...doesn't that mean God is deformed too?

When we gaze into our bathroom mirror, we are viewing the image of our self.

Our image is not our total self, but merely a reflection of our superficial self.

Self improvement is a process of becoming self aware.

Self discovery becomes the journey of our life time.

It is through our life's experiences that we gradually discover our true self.

In the course of our life time we learn that our true self, is never discovered in our image.

Uggh much of the Christian View of Original Sin is distorted. It is derived from the true Hindu/Buddhist doctrine of Karma. Karma does NOT say that we are deformed it says that through our own errs and love of low things we have sinned from our highest place with the Queen of Heaven and put into lower realms of manifestations. This is only one level of manifestation but there are many others. Our goal is to return to the Queen of Heaven and our highest place of glory. Christianity took this view and the theologians distorted it. First of all it does not say that we are deformed. What it says is that originally we were creatures of absolute goodness. Now however we have the choice to do good or evil. Many Christians twist this doctrine to believe that man is evil by nature and that their god is an unjust god because he judges people even though he created them bad by nature. As a Collyridian I believe in Karma as all people of faith should.

There is a big distortion regarding original sin. First off, we are God's creation with our own wills to make choices. At some point individuals choice a path away from staying in direct contact with God. We are tempted by things, ideas, concepts and turn away from what is the best for us. God's gift to humanity is a restoration back to where we are connected to God. We only need to believe that God has made that restoration possible. Christ's example on earth was showing humanity a better way of living. He demonstrated love for humanity and even stated that the most important commandment was to love God with everything and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves.

I firmly believe that God wants for each one to be restored back to his/her full godly potential. It doesn't matter what labels we human put on ourselves, we are all precious to God. We are all part of God's plan. Our orientation is part of who we are and need not be changed!

Beautifully, and simply, expressed. Bravo:=D:

One thing also, the Old Testament was written before Jesus fulfilled it. Once Jesus came, as for Christians, they were given the fulfillment of the old law as it became summed up in two laws: Love the Lord your God with all your heart your mind and soul and love your neighbor as yourself.

The old law isn't done away with but rather fulfilled by those two commandments. When Christ came, you might say that love became more of the focal point. Husbands (if you read the New Testament) are to love their wives and cherish them and respect them, and this goes both ways.

Jesus changed a lot of views on things or you might say he "corrected and perfected" the law. For the Jews today, they are still to follow those laws of Moses if they are in Judaism but as for ALL people who are Christian, we follow the corrected and perfected version.

Many people will still follow the old law of Moses but it will be very difficult to find salvation through that law. Many will follow that law until the second coming of Christ at which point those laws will be done away with.

she will say the bible doesn't say that.

Then you can tell her that like most Christians she is ignorant of what the Bible really says.

It commands every one of those things. I'm really sick of these people not even knowing what the damn book says that they claim is from a deity.

Unfortunately the New Testament is often not much better with it's teachings. Of the previous statements I made about women for example, the bolded ones below are found in the New Testament.

You know, sometimes getting spiritual discussion on books, getting this debate to decide whether something is allowed or not according to certain paragraph or sentence is useless. The problem with this, is that in the 21st century almost everyone is aware of the textual contradictions the Bible, or even other holy books may have. I repeat it, TEXTUAL.
My point is that you should notice that what is written in the holy books is totally anachronic, and therefore, what is said must be interpretated, not taken as something real in this time. Remember that most of the times, the important books through history have been important due to the multiple lectures that you can give to that text, and not related to a holy inspiration that must be followed in a fixed way. As a result, the Bible may be as important today as it was 9 centuries ago, but you should be careful with the ideas written. They are not there to be taken textually, just as spirituality and even human mind are not unidirectional. It's an spiritual book, it should be seen with soul eyes.
Considering all of this, you can state that you are deformed as long as you feel that what you do is deformed, but your sister cannot tell you that. Now, if we talk about psychological issues, let me tell you that your sister is close to have a lot of internal complexes. Believe me, if she was quite good with herself, she wouldn't be looking aside and trying to point out the others' issues (issues as something neutral, not as a problem). She wouldn't give a shit about gay people if she was totally ok. Don't take the discussion to something as subjective as the interpretation of books. Ask her if she has a non-religious problem with gays. I'm sure she'll take a lot of time to answer that. ;)

I truly wish that were the case, and it continually boggles my mind how it could not be, but coming from a religious background, I can tell you that many religious people are not aware of them, either from willful ignorance, or intellectual laziness and being unwilling to think about these issues themselves instead of just taking what their pastor says for example.

intellectual laziness and being unwilling to think about these issues themselves instead of just taking what their pastor says for example.
That laziness is what I call lacking spirituality.
If you ask me for my opinion, even though my background is just slightly religious, do not let that people believe what they have is a true religion and, thus, what you have is a sinful mind. I'm sure that if you are good at talking and arguing, you'll easily find a lot of inner problems and broken paradigms. If they do not want to accept them, then it's their problem, and you must get over them (because it's very easy to identify the others' problems as yours).

She said this and that is sin.
I said if those people say they didn't sin how can you say they have sin.
And she said only god can judge. I said well let god be the judge, why should human mouth holes say this is sin, that is sin, sin sin sin .......... why the bully from human.

And she said something i can't remember.

Tell her that you don't have the power to know what God wants, that if she thinks she has it's her business, and what you know is that repeating so many times the word 'sin' may mean that she feels awfully dirty in her insides, and a lot of therapists will come to the same conclusion.
By the way, your goal is to convince her? Because when such a "religious" bias is in between the chances to do it just by arguing will be very low.
If I were you, I'd tell her that you understand her opinion, but sadly, she is not the owner of absolute truth. so she has to accept that no matter how hard she tries, human ability has not reached the point where you have total wisdom, so in the meantime she has to learn to respect the others' opinions.

No, she want to convince me that homosexual act is wrong but she is smart enough to say that "sexual sin is wrong". Sexual such as Adultery.

I said if 2 adults are happy and harm no one, why should human mouths care?
She said something i can't remember.
