Gays: "Given Up On The Opposite Gender"?!

I know this'll sound weird, but I honestly feel sorry for most straight men, and i'm secretly very thankful I don't have to live in their world or put up with the things they do on a daily basis; I couldn't imagine being in a relationship and being that insecure with my sexuality, or understanding so little about my partner.

Ill never feel sorry for straight guys. They are the ones that created this society that oppresses women and tries to take away any of their sexual power. They are the ones who also oppress and persecute gay people and try to make them feel ashamed of and abused for their sexuality. Why in the hell would I ever feel sorry for them?

Uhh careful, we don't want to try and break an ego illusion with another ego illusion!

Saying things like 'gay men don't understand straight men' is silly. I frequently can understand and sympathize with certain straight men a lot, it all depends on the individual and where we are at psychically.

I never understood straight male sports culture or why people could enjoy that, because I personally never liked those things and always found them boring. But I don't think you can blankly say 'gay men don't understand straight men.'

And oppress women? I do the same thing. I can get hard watching meatholes and seeing women be seriously degraded by raw primal male energy. I might feel guilty for these things, but it's there. Misogyny is something that's not limited to straight men, I struggle with it myself.

I'm not sure if you were responding to 2 people or just me but I never said I dont understand straight men. I just dont feel sorry for them or have any sympathy for them. Whether you get a boner from meatholes or gonzo porn or whatever is irrelevant. The fact is that general misogyny and chauvinism was created and perpetuated by straight men. Homophobic oppression was created by straight men. Society is dominated by straight male culture and has been forever.

Considering (in the US) how many homophobic televangelists and politicians turn out to be gay, I wouldn't be so sure about that. We can be our own worst enemies sometimes.

And society--in terms of art & entertainment--is totally dominated by gays.

This is absurd. Most religious leaders are straight. Here and there we get a few gay ones who are outed. but they still are hiding and trying to be what they think a straight man is. Those self-loathing hypocrites are in many ways victims, trying to fit into a society created by straight men that tells them their gayness is a mistake.

And nothing is dominated by gays. Gays still cater to straight people and still hide in the closet and behind the scenes in all arenas. Even if there is a gay stylist, runway coach, or designer. None of the big fashion models are openly gay. Even if there is a gay TV/Film executive most of them are in the closet and none of the A-List actors are openly gay. In music the only openly gay young artist is Adam Lambert and so many gay people hate him for some reason. What are gays dominating exactly?

Nightcrawler: You know, outside the circus, most people were afraid of me. But I didn't hate them. I pitied them. Do you know why? Because most people will never know anything beyond what they see with their own two eyes.

And nothing is dominated by gays.

Except the arts and entertainment industries, the fashion industry and San Francisco. :D

Are you nuts?

I can't say that most religious leaders are gay, unless you're talking about Catholics: Of all the child abuse cases brought against the Catholic church, how many were for priests abusing girls vs. boys? Then again, religion is closely tied to art, and both are made up of sensitive men (and women). And how many artists are straight?

Yeah, sure, Hollywood gays aren't producing tons of gay-themed movies. But arts, entertainment, fashion, and advertising are all run by gay men. Closeted though they may be.

Just as the closeted televangelists demonize the gays and the gay Catholic Bishops demonize gay marriage, so too closeted Hollywood gays snubbed Brokeback Mountain for awards. But all this is slowly changing.

You gotta be the change you want to see in the world. Working out your own homosexuality issues, and it creates a ripple effect for other gay men to do the same. But you can't shout out and scream at gay men for having the same issues you do, as we are all in the same boat together.

And well if a gay man decides to hate himself there's not much you can do but pave the way, people make their own choices. If a gay man insists on straight men being innately superior or whatever, or whatever perception they choose you hold, you can try to lead the way and help them as much as possible but if they are unwilling to go there, there's not much you can do. You should just move on.

If you act too unhappy about this, it just proves that you secretly believe whatever they are beleiving, and you both are kind of neurotic and stressed about it. Light a candle. Don't curse the darkness.
