Cause when a person is straight that automatically makes them a perfect parent:

Yes, sexual orientation defines your success as a parent as we can see.

Those are so heart-breaking to hear. Especially the long one where the mom talks of using wire to kill her kids, because they have autism. Yet she felt nothing. How horrible; she even tried having them drink bathroom cleaner first, but they refused. I could only imagine the poor children's last moments of life.

It is a huge responsibility to have kids, but your sexual orientation does not, and will never, determine if you'll be a good parent. ANYBODY who uses that argument to try and stop gays or lesbians from adopting a kid (or having one) is absolutely ignorant to the world around them.

I want to one day raise a child and I hope to be a great parent. :D

Well I think we have to draw the line between sexual orientation and extreme mental illness. These people obviously had some sort of mental illness or psychological disorder which caused them to kill their children.

Now I'm going to play a little "devil's advocate" here, please don't think I'm being negative.

It is perfectly reasonable to assume that gay parents, male or female, could also be in that same boat. Straight or gay you can still have psychological problems. It would not surprise me to one day read an article about how a gay parent killed their adopted child for some weird reason.

Perhaps we as a society should focus more on the mental health of our friends and neighbors, rather than their sexual orientation. How nice would it be to hear your neighbor ask you, how are you feeling today? Is everything okay?

Imagine that for a second. A world where people actually cared about other people. It brings a tear to my eye.

The fucked-up persons up there are not straight or gay.
They are fucked up.
Fucked up = fucked up.

You're right! I ignored that in my post. We do have to think of the mental health of the individuals, because there's obviously something wrong and that can happen to anyone.

Exactly right, an abusive alcoholic father and a methhead mother would be better than two loving daddies. That's just sickening.

Well that's arguable. Straight people have kids cause it's what society expects them to, even if they don't always feel ready or want to. If gay people have kids, or fight to have them, it's probably cause they'd love to (not saying most straight people don't), no one expects them to have kids or even wants them to. I think that alone shows that the rate of good parents, or not psycho parents, should be much higher among gay parents.

But my point was that sexuality doesn't define your success as a parent.

I don't know of any legitimate adoption agency that would give an alcoholic father and/or a methhead mother a child...
