Gays who met their partners offline

So meeting people face to face is considered old fashioned now? That was fast. I could never trust looking for a partner on a playing field where distortion and misrepresentation is not only commonplace, but very easy, and on some platforms, encouraged. A hook up is one thing, but a partner?

There is no substitute for eye contact. Pheromones play a part as well, I am convinced of that. Not to mention a guy's voice, they way they move, they way they hold themselves and interact with their immediate environment. None of these things can be expressed with a two dimensional image and a block of text. More importantly, it's the synergy of these attributes that make a person unique; this is where that spark comes from. You can't get that remotely.

I assume serial dating is necessary now since it's impossible to detect bullshit online. I'm glad I'm out of the game because I'd refuse to search for a soulmate the same way I'd search for a couch.

I know that even if I was in the game...I would still only be looking to meet guys in real life like I used to.

I met my LTR partners in the real world during the 80s and 90s.

If I was younger I would never look for a partner online, in fact I seriously doubt that I would bother looking for a partner at all nowadays.

Yeah I’m not sexy enough or hot to be considered attractive that’s why I’m single

No matter how good they look on their profile or how well you match: you still have to run the "in person" test.
Online platforms just make the first steps easier, but the rest is still the old way.

The Internet didn't exist when we met and moved in together. I think Compuserve and AOL were getting started but I didn't have a modem for my TI-99/4A, still don't.

I still have the 99/4A. It's out in the feed shed. I suppose it still works but it's been a long long time since I powered it up. I should see if it works and try to sell it on eBay, original box and all.
