Anyone else playing this game?

Best looking video game ever! And it's a blast to play too!
 
NOt many people here care... I have a 360, but after wacthign the reviews about the game.. its not for me.

Theres practically no story, you can beat it in 7 hours, and the only really good part about the game is the multiplayer online, but thats only if you have XBL. If not, then this game is only good as a rent.
 
Lot of contenders for GOTY: GoW, FFXII, Resistance...though not particularly passionate about two of the three choices, I think GoW will bring home the gold.

That's crazy. I don't agree with that summary at all. I've already played for almost 3 hours and I'm not finished with the first chapter. And there are 5 chapters.

Also it has a good amount of story. I'm not sure what your barometer for story is but it's as least as involved as Halo and Halo 2.

What do you mean they had a low budget? Compared to what? I'm pretty sure this was one the biggest 360 games in terms of budget.
 
It's a toss up between this and Sonic for me. I can't afford more than one, and the guns have chainsaw bayonettes, so it'll probably swing me.
 
OK, I'm not a video game person, but I've seen the commercials for this. So, what is up w/ the giant spiders. I hate spiders, and that giant spider coming out of the shadow creeps me out lol. If no one wants to spoil the game you can PM it to me, I'm not a game person I just wanted to know b/ it looked interesting.

Watch the video review on site such as game trailers and gamespot. Read or watch reviews and you will that you can beat teh game on average of 8 hours, but some people beat before that time...

From te reviews I'm pretty sure theres hardly a story. Theres a story, just not pointede out for us to see.

That comercial is one of the best I have seen. IT suppose to make you feel like the story is going to be sad and filled with at least some emotion, but the game is NOT like that according to other peoples oppinions and reviews...

The spiders are just like any enemy. The comercial was suppose to make you feel like there was no hope for survival. Besides, its also just a dream.
 
PS: Did any of you notice or think that this game is a counter release of the PS3?

Take note that this game is called "Gears of War: "EMERGENCY DAY""

Not out in the UK for another week but I am gagging for this one. It looks fucking fantastic. Could do for the 360 what Halo did for the Xbox.

As for counter release to PS3, unlikely. It's been out in the far east for a few days already and the PS3 only hit Japan today (11th Nov). The UK Xbox forums lit up like a Christmas tree because some joker claimed that a big supermarket chain in the UK had started selling GoW already. The far east and US versions are region free so there's been quite a bit of bootlegging going on too.

Call Of Duty 3 is another awesome title, definitely worth checking out...

Yeah it's funny to me the comments about a lack of story because really what game has a lot of story? Gears of War has as much story as Halo or Halo 2, but lack of story was never something I used to hear mentioned as a problem for those games. In fact after hearing people mention the lack of story I've been surprised by how much story there actually is. Not to say it's more than any other game, but it's not really any less, and the game keeps throwing new things at me which is effectively making the action itself another part of the story.

After playing it for a few hours I was thinking how this is like the Halo for the 360 right now. It's such a polished, major production and it looks so good it's hard to believe it's actually a game. It's definitely a must have if you have a taste for shooters at all.

I'll be playing some multiplayer on Live tonight to see how that goes.
 
Oh and yeah, I am looking forward to Call of Duty 3. I just can't afford to buy more than one game this month so it's Gears of War for me right now. The new multiplayer in Call of Duty 3 sounds cool.

There's no way I'll beat it in 8 hours at the rate I'm going. More likely it will be about 15. Maybe 8 if you play it on the easy setting or you play videogames for a living, but for normal people it will be longer.

I generally don't enjoy single player games that drag on forever anyway. Quality over quantity for me. Anything more than 15 hours or so and I start losing interest and don't finish.
 
I've played it for two days, I want it's babies. It's also harder than I thought which is a good thing.
