Today the Canadian government released a new loonie coin to commemorate the 50th anniversary of laws that lead to equal rights for the LGBTQ2 community, but like clockwork, some gays are still not satisfied with the advances Canada has made. I say, what the hell? We have the most advanced gay rights in the world, a massive parade and even a coin. What else do you want?

What does the backside look like?

that is the backside

as that coin is issued by The Royal Canadian Mint, the "frontside" or obverse would naturally be a bust portrait of Elizabeth II

Canada has produced some beautiful commemorative coin designs; silver proofs especially, but I'm not impressed with that one

I'm not seeing where people are complaining.

And given the attitude that we see even on this site regarding trans, bi, queer and even lesbians...they are spot on that the work isn't completed yet. What I actually take from your comment is that you are satisfied with things as they are, probably because you have everything you want out of lgbtq rights.

Doesn't mean that everyone else is riding the same train.

I noticed they've gone PC and castrated out one third of the slogan—

Liberté, égalité, fraternité.

It reminds me of this ancient trope—

Our toonies have the Queen on front with a [STRIKE]bare[/STRIKE] BEAR behind .

Fixed that for you.

It isn't really funny if it isn't correct.

The lips are too big!/Les lèvres sont trop grandes!
What an embarrassment!/Quel embarras!
This man almost resembles a woman!/Cet homme presque ressemble à une femme!

But of course that was the idea, wasn't it? The design isn't so much about lesbian/gay/bisexual as it is about the portrayal of the ideal gay man as feminine, along with the celebration of gender fluidity, transvestitism and transsexiality.

For Canada, since the Toonie is one of my all time favorite coins, I would have expected much better.

Still -- nice that they came out with a coin.

i'm complaining because it doesn't look like lbgti at all
Why not add gay rights on the coin ????

For the record, the new coin is not a toonie ($2 coin). It is a loonie ($1 coin).

It looks like rip off from illustrations by Mel Odom.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mel_Odom_(artist)

Either that or a pastiche of some Art Deco something with decadent men with fat lips because we all know homosexuals are sensuous sluts.

If I were Mel Odom, I would be instituting legal proceedings for intellectual theft.

The person on the left is wearing an Australian surf lifesaver's skull-cap and standing in front of a radiating sun-burst Art Deco motif, similar to this—
