Hey there... A question just popped into my head and I'm wondering if anyone has some insight....

Every morning I scope out my emails, and every month I get atleast 2 unsolicited emails to sell me prescriptions over the net.... yes, usually viagra or something.... Anyways, today I finally clicked on the link to go see what this was all about. The site that came up was surprisingly professional and low key and offered various and sundry items at very good, though not unrealistic prices.

I'm curious to know if anyone here has ever had any first hand experience with these merchants and their generic products.... I know there's no such thing as a free ride, and sometimes when it sounds too good to be true, it is. But I can't help my curiosity....

So, anyone?

^^^ Don't take more than one viagra at a time, or you'll wind up in casualty with priapism (not a fun thing to have).

eric55, don't know which website you were looking at, but generic drugs are getting cheaper all the time. WalMart is going to start selling them at $4 for a one-month supply, some time next year.

Ok, so that reasures me about the generic versions.... how trust worthy are the sites? Anyone gotten ripped off?

And Slobone, I wonder about Walmart's plan and patent laws.... Viagra and Cialis are still protected by patent in Canada and the US aren't they?

Stonking? STONKING? - I aint heard that word since 1985 - SERIOUSLY!!! :rotflmao:

You only get two of those emails a month? How do you do it? I usually get 50 or 60 of them a day!!

(PS) Personally, I'd never purchase anything, ever, that came offered to me in the form of spam -- I don't care how good the deal is.

Wal Marts drugs are already classified as generics. Anything that is not being manufactured as a generic will not be sold for $4. I am assuming Viagra and Cilaus(?spelling) will not be included. Anything else sold that compares to the two is a herbal knock off and usually not worth the money.

A little research discloses that the chemical name for Viagra is sildenafil citrate. No generic version has been approved yet, in spite of what a lot of websites will tell you.

Cialis is tadalafil, and it's also not available in a generic version as yet.

I don't see any of those emails because gmail has wonderful spam filtering.

There are a lot of illegal generics out there (at least if you imported them to the US. It is also worth noting that if Wal-Marts $4 a month plan gets approved by Wal-Mart once their testing is finished, its not going to be EVERY generic drug. I think they said it would be 300 or so drugs that would cost that rate. That is a good amount and would probably include the high volume generics (HCTZ, lasix, various bp drugs, high dose non-narcotic pain killers, etc.). Sometimes generic drugs aren't much cheaper than the brand name drugs. See plendil, zocor, and allegra. Although if you have insurance they are a good bit cheaper, but the insurance company is taking a good bit of a loss on those drugs.

And viagra is probably going to stay under patent longer if it gets new approval to treat pulomonary hypertension. Its a trick the drug companies do. When the drug is close to going generic, get it approved for some other condition to extend the patent rights 3 or so more years. This is especially prevelant for psych drugs.

^^^ Or they make some trivial change and reissue under a new name.

But it does strike me as kind of odd that drug patents seem to expire so quickly. All of the prescription drugs I take are in generic versions. I asked my druggist, who said the duration of their exclusive rights begins when they file the patent application, not years later when it's approved. So they have a narrow window to make their bucks (not that they don't make plenty of them).

Contrast this with copyrights, which now go on virtually forever, since Congress passed the Mickey Mouse Protection Act.

I would never buy meds over the net from a non-reliable source, unless it also has a real shop or drug store in a city. How can you know that you really get what you ordered if there's no package insert?

Stop signing up on all those porn sites.

The reason these drug companies are flooding your inbox with viagra offers is because the product they're offering is of fantastic quality, and they're genuinely excited by the prospect of bringing joy and happiness to millions.

Bless their cotton socks, if only we had a little more faith in them they wouldn't have to go to such extreme lengths to share the great news.

I don't think anyone should self medicate with these kinda drugs. Better to ask a health professional first, as signs of erection problems could be due to other factors, like high blood pressure.

i got those emails everyday.
as a pharm tech I don't recommend you buying prescription items online without a prescription. Internet is where they sell fake drugs at a lower cost, but may significantly damage your body.
