The chart legend's latest album beat Kylie by over 20,000 copies

George Michael has scored his seventh UK number one album this weekend after a race to the top of the charts with Kylie Minogue. Despite being his first album release in almost 10 years, Symphonica managed to beat Kylie by over 20,000 copies after gaining a significant lead in the midweek chart update.

He was a champion for those who say gay men can express their sex in public.

Well, shit.

Wham!'s second album Make It Big was one of those spot-on perfect pop records that managed to balance 60s style with an 80s sensibility all while making an album of stunningly-well written pop songs. Those songs would have been huge hits in the 50s, 60s, 80s and probably could be hits now.

He also had a beautiful voice.

ALSO... instead of disappearing in humiliation after being outed, he met it head-on and became one of the first gay A-list stars.

He'll be missed.
