https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...used-using-Grindr-lure-gay-men-sex-sting.html

Law enforcement officials in Georgia last month staged a sting operation on the gay dating app Grindr, arresting nine men on prostitution and drug-related charges.

But one of the accused men has challenged the narrative laid out in the arrest warrant from the Dawson County Sheriff's Office, arguing that he did not offer to have sex with an undercover officer in exchange for marijuana.

...

The screenshot of the chat provided to the publication purportedly makes no mention of a quid pro quo deal between the two men, but in the March 4 arrest warrant, Sgt Johnson wrote that the suspect 'did solicit' him 'to perform an act of prostitution in exchange for marijuana.'

What year is this?

This kind of thing is going to get a lot worse if republicans stay in power.

Although I don't see enough evidence to speak to the arrested being prostitutes, the laws remain on the books, and for straights as well.

The same area runs stings on straight women as well, so it's more of a community standards thing than an anti-gay thing.

For the record, I'm for the legalization of marijuana, as this type of added charge just makes this a prison packer instead of helping society.

Prostitution is a different matter. I think there are other remedies rather than vice squads. I have had a couple of friends who were gay prostitutes, and they started when underage and on the streets. Say what you will about vice laws, it's not cool to excuse sex for pay and claim it is a private affair when it often involves either an underage teen or someone addicted or destitute. That's not a social value we want to uphold. It's too often a rank, unequal affair, pardon the pun. They're not all charming, illiterate ex-pat bankers, you know.

^ It all depends. Are they rentboys because they escaped from bad homes and ended up on the streets, or are they dumb and evil straight guys seeking to defraud gay men for their addictions?

Sex for reward is the oldest profession and no society has ever brought it to an end - even under penalty of death in renaissance Florence

They don't have to be separate subsets.

It's not like a teen needs to be gay to fall out with parents and move out with no place to go. And it's frequently a good question whether addiction preceded prostitution or vice versa.

Whether prostitution should or shouldn't be legal, it never made me dislike or feel contempt for the friends I knew who had been in the trade. There is a lot we didn't have in common, but friendship doesn't require similarity.

Police are no friends to the LGBTQ community, so I am not really surprised. Last year they escorted Nazi's through Detroit pride.

That seems to vary from community to community, but 7 out of 10 GBLT people in a substantial recent survey agree with you:

It has definitely improved over the years. It's been some five decades since Stonewall, and the progress is obvious. The fact that the press had to go to Bumfuck, Georgia to find a borderline case is telling in and of itself. And the arrests are not in isolation from similar straight prostitution busts, so it makes it hard to depict it as simply anti-gay.

More? Or both?

Well this story hits too close to home...like right up the road.

Bolded portion.

Diversity is what makes life interesting. Most of my friends are nothing similar to me.

This is how gay men and women and transgender are treated. Vote Democratic We hae a good chance of controlling the congress and senate and of course shit head would be gone.
