Apparently the government isn't going to take our protestations of having our persons violated by them lightly. If you do not wish to be x-rayed and have some stranger looking at your "junk" or want some government toadie rubbing your inner thighs and "junk", you don't have to. But you will not be free to leave the airport either. You will be made to answer questions to the TSA and possibly even local law enforcement. Failure to do so can result in a fine of $11,000.

I insist they feel me up.

I love to fly through the US.

What's airport security screening like in other countries? If I was to board an airplane in Toronto, London, Paris, Tel Aviv..... would these extreme measures be taken also?

Nope. But the outside the US flights are the first we aim at shooting down..... err I mean it makes it easier to count on internal flights as being safe and you can concentrate on the flights from the less "secure" portions of the earth.

i traveled this week on biz - was in LA, Albuquerque, Minneapolis then back to NYC

saw evidence of the new policies

in albuquerque as we were waiting to board, tsa agents patted down, checked sodas and questioned fliers who were just about to board a plane

after they had already gone thru security

i am all for security and the scary episode weeks back about the tip from the saudis i believe on cargo that would have hurt us and would not have been found .......

well i am willing to give up some convenience for the good of all - as in saving lives

but

i'm not sure the "thinkers" who have thought this out are on the money

not at all

there's the goal

then there's the policy

Toronto it's pretty simple. Their not friendly, but their not pricks either. Last time I flew was a while ago though...

As for this whole ordeal, I will just say I'm against the idea of being scanned naked and groped. As Ben Franklin so rightly wrote:

"Those willing to give up a litte liberty for a little security will deserve neither, and loose both".

IMO, the TSA is violating the 4th Amendment. But I'm not a Judge...

^I might agree with the 4th Amendment issue, so long as we have some kind of right to fly. We do not, however. One of our legislators here in NJ, brought up a good point, though.

Touching people's genitals, including their buttocks, even through clothing, may constitute a crime in NJ. Especially as it relates to kids. That makes it sexual assault, believe it or not. So there's going to be some kind of pissing match between NJ and the feds about this matter. I'd love to see a TSA slug dragged out of an airport in bracelets.

I have a serious issue with the TSA, who has no law enforcement authority, detaining anybody and requiring them to answer questions. Many airports have no scanners and the only choice is being groped by one of these Neanderthals. So, if I don't want to go along with that you fine me $11,000? Sorry, I think I'll be doing more driving in the future.

But you don't have a problem with the government torturing people to "make us safe." Good grief.

Airport security in the USA is a joke.

I once flew Cincinnati to Philadelphia to Rome.

In Cincinnati, they wouldn't let me on the plane with a fountain pen. They kept referring to the pen as "my knife." All the security people acted like they'd never seen such a thing.

In Philadelphia, after passing through airport security, I found a bunch of great shops. Including a stationary shop. Where I bought a fountain pen.

Essentially, they took my fountain pen away because it was a security risk. Then, they let me pass through security, and I bought a fountain pen on the other side. I then got on the plane to Rome with it.

As did I - did you see me getting felt up at LaGuardia by chance?

I don't know why the scanners piss me off so much, but they do. So on Friday when I flew home, I opted out. The TSA worker speaks into his little walkie talkie and says "We've got one that wants to opt out."

Stand here, do this and that, I'll grab your stuff (um, why can't I carry my own laptop?) blah blah blah. The actual pat down is just creepy. They literally slide their hands over every part of your body, including sticking their fingers on the inside of your pants.

I felt I should have left a tip.

He wasn't even hot, either.

Whoa. I've opted out and been patted down two or three times in the past month.

Nobody ever put their fingers on the inside of my pants.

They only do that to the terrorists.

You have no issue with the President ordering a hit on a US citizen.

*Yawn*

Why should he have a problem with the government "torturing" three Al Qaeda masterminds for the sole purpose of thwarting future attacks?

Perhaps the pen really is mightier than the sword, at least in the estimation of the TSA! :help:

The bottom line for the scans is:

Scan, grope or go the fuck home. I sincerely hope most people choose not to fly to save themselves from shame because it makes my life a lot fucking easier if all the lemmings and especially the crying babies don't come onto planes.

There is a special place in hell for anyone that flies with a uncontrolled balling child.

](*,) So let me get this str8. For nearly a decade Progressives and Liberals have been decrying the nonsense of the TSA and the unruly searches. (An agency created by Republicans I might add). But the response from the wingnuts has been, "Meh, if you don't like it leave". But NOW, once wingnut radio has picked up the story and a Democrat is in the White House, NOW it's a problem suddenly??? Unfuckingreal. :grrr:

I swear to god if Conservatives didn't hear it on wingnut radio; it didn't happen, never was a problem, or a lie from the left. Once wingnut radio & media whine about something, then the tin can soldiers bravely go forth into the internets and hammer out their righteous indignation.

America is fucking doomed.

dems and libs are all about personal freedoms no? had a huge problem with gwb's taking liberties with personal freedoms post 911 no???

wiretapping
patriot act
etc.

i got it - didn't agree with it - but understood the idea that erosion of those rights was a little scary

but now ?

so it goes both ways silly boy and at least admit that

personally i think there's gotta be a better way than touching junk

but until i hear what it is touch away

cause i want the plane to make it to the destination
