I started swiming this semister at my college, and using the showers after swiming I started doing after a couple days cause I HATE my hair being sticky (mainly the hair on my head, but also elsewhere and my skin, and I don't like getting my clothes that way too...darn chlorine!!) The first several times I did it, no one was around (otherwise I probably wouldn't have.) Unfortunately, the showers there are just an open room with a few isles that go from the door/openings to the back (of course, from some parts the chaning room can see into also...), but anyway...
...so when people are in there, they can look around, and I think some do, and I sometimes get a little stiff (which, if I don't get my mind off of it, usually goes until it's fully stiff.) Generally, I try showering on one of the walls so if I get stiff I just turn to face the wall if I'm not already and tilt my head back and let the water hit my chest and shoulders. That usually relaxes me since it feels so good after a long swim anyway. Either that or I just crouch down on a knee so the water can hit my head and back at the same time, that seems to work to and "covers me up" as far as that goes.
I do think other guys look around. Maybe it's cause a lot of the guys are college guys and just curious, I dunno. The few older guys don't seem to, but they also wear trunks when showering, something I thought about doing except that I have to wrap mine in my towel and put them in my backpack when I'm done, so I want them to be as dry as possible (and it would hamper getting the chlorine off of some parts of my anatomy anyway...) Just if you DO look around, don't stare at people, it's rude anyway, and probably makes people uncomfortable. Same if they're lookin' at you. If anyone makes a big deal out of it, you can always ask them WHY they were looking at your crotch in the first place. ^_^
But yeah, just try not to be blantly showing about it and relax. If nothing else, don't make a big deal, just soap up the rest of you, rinse off, and get out. No worries. ^_^ If you don't make a big deal out of it, no one else probably will (they might think you're gay or bi or something, but most guys are just trying to shower and go home too.) Just relax, don't draw undue attention to it, and if you must cover, do it discretely (being overly obvious can draw more attention to you than you had before, what with making a scene and all, and tends to make it HARDER to get un-hard anyway. ^_^)
I dunno, maybe none of that helps, but if it does, glad to be of assistance. Given, it may be harder for gay guys, but...and yes, I have seen some people in there that seem to be actively looking without even attempting to hide it, but...for the most part, I think guys just shower and if they do look, it's just in quick glances. -shrug- Of course, I do live in Texas, DFW, but still...
