Hiya guys,

Just wondering if anyone has any advice about an erection problem I have. I have several medical conditions but don't think they are the problem. I dont really have a sex drive but want sex with my partner to please him, however I cannot get hard anymore. I've tried viagra and all strengths of cialis but they did nothing. Is there anything else I can ask my GP to try as he isn't very forthcoming with ideas! I'm 32 and I really want a sex life.... can anyone help?

Many thanks

I have had a spinal fusion- have another herniated disk- take several different drugs besides anti anxiety drugs(due to lack of a life!)and all of them affect ED- drinking doesn't help when it's in excess as well- I hope you aren't doing as bad- but diabetes is sometimes a problem too- or the meds that help control it

Go to a urologist. or try Boston medical group, I know they work.

you didn't say what medical problems you have or what medications you are taking. Both could be part of the problem. Some medications for depression, high blood pressure or high cholesterol could be causing the problem as well. Could be low testosterone too. There is a whole host of things that could be contributing to the problem. If your doctor isn't interested in helping you I'd find a new one. As suggested find a good urologist. They are the experts in this department.

good luck.

Steven.

Hiya guys thanks for the replies, I've had a few vodkas now so it's time to be honest about things I'm not usually open about. I am 32, when I was 19 I attempted suicide for the second time and killed my liver. It did kick back into life but I havent recovered from that depression so I have been on effexor ( venlafaxine ) for years and although I have tried a hundred times to get off it I simply cannot no matter how hard I try or whatever method i try.

I am a diabetic and inject 6 times a day. and I do have high blood pressure for which I take Lisinopril ( or something ) I am very low in mood and don't really want to be alive, I certainly dont want to be me as I hate myself.

Still the fact remains that I am trying to get on with my life and I really need help with the erection thing. I dont mind taking pills or injections whatever but not being able to get hard or cum is only fuelling my hatered for myself and I cant take a whole lot more. Please help is there anything I can do to simply get hard and stay hard?

You need to talk with your doctor.

As you have discovered, Viagra and Cialis only prolong erections. If you can't get an erection, then they are worthless.

Diabetes and lisinopril can both cause erectile dysfunction. And given your complex medical history, a doctor can best advise you on your options.

Don't forget that alcohol is great to self-medicate for anxiety but probably makes it harder to lift off from having a low mood, and I'm sure you know doesn't make managing diabetes any easier either.

(and I know you're talking about hard-ons but I believe a whole-body-health approach will give you a better chance at getting hard...)

By the way, your GP should understand that your having a healthy sex life is completely normal, and it is his job to figure out what's going on. Do you see anyone other than your GP for all your medical situations or do you have specialists involved? I'm not sure the GP will be the one to fix this, particularly if he's not especially interested.

im 25 and i was having all of the same problems, i have cronic testicular pain that my docs cant seem to figure out. over the past two years i've been on medication trials for all types of different anti depression medication antiseizer and some other crap to supposedly combat the pain but the worst thing they put me on was the anit depressents.. i was actually getting more depressed taking it and losing my temper alot at work also.. i'm almost 100% sure that its the medication your taking thats effecting your sex drive..
