What's your opinion? Forgive and forget or opening old wounds?

In my situation, it was a bad relationship followed by a bad break up. I haven't talked to him in 6 months until today and he seems to have matured so I figured I could be friendly and see where it goes.

Yay or nay?

Nay, if the relationship was bad and it broke up bad then its only clear that its best to leave it behind you and move on.

Go slow and see what happens, making sure you aren't misled into thinking that things are better than they actually are. You don't want to recommit only to discover you're back were you were.

There is absolutely no right or wrong in this, and it depends solely on the particular situation and the people in it. That said, usually when two people break up, there is a reason for it, and usually that reason is still there when they get back together.

"... it was a bad relationship followed by a bad break up."

That should tell you all you need to know and it's rare that an epiphany happens after 6 months.

If you siad it was a good relationship with a good break-up....I would lean to making another run at it.

But there is no reason why you can't be friends.
