help, im getting circumcised next week, how am i going to abstain from sex or masturbation for 4-6 weeks, its gonna be impossible! How much does it hurt? Im 24.

Congrats, be sure and tell the doc that you want the frenulum removed too. This leaves the glands totally free and you will love it. Give a great look, is super clean and doesn't detract from sensitivity.

Pain should be minimal, more discomfort getting used to the exposed head rubbing against your pubic hair and underwear, but this only last a few days.

WOW. Just reading this makes my body ache.
What made you decide this? Is your foreskin too tight, got an infection or something? Just curious. But yeah like the guy above me said Itle probably just hurt the glans a bit.
The only thing I'd be afraid of is trying to not get hard! AHHHHHHH. (I'm un-circumcised).

If you are doing for medical reason then it is justified...if you are doing for cosmetic reason then I would like to say this might be the dumbest decision you ever made. Supposed something goes wrong then you really would have abstain from sex forever. I always say don't mess with you willy.

According to Medline Plus:

Circumcision is the removal of the foreskin, which is the skin that covers the tip of the penis. In the United States, it is often done before a new baby leaves the hospital. There are medical benefits and risks to circumcision. Possible benefits include a lower risk of urinary tract infections, penile cancer and sexually transmitted diseases. The risks include pain and a low risk of bleeding or infection. These risks are higher for older babies, boys and men.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) does not recommend routine circumcision. Parents need to decide what is best for their sons, based on their religious, cultural and personal preferences.

yeah this is for a medical reason, doctor said it was mild phimosis, which is tight foreskin, so kinda need to get it done, just glad to hear pain will be minimal and i hope i dont lose all sensation!

There are a lot of circumcised men out there enjoying sex. Don't worry, you'll be fine.

I was cut in my junior year in high school. When it was cut, there were stitches around the cock just below the head. It was like a crown of thorns. When I would get a night time hard on, the pain would be, beyond belief. When I got a hard on, I would get a warm wash cloth and place around the head and the stitches. That would ease the pain and the cock would go soft. That would happen a couple of times during the night. Later, I was told the doctor could have given me a medicine that would stop me from getting a hard on. It was not fun.

You won't lose sensation. The head will be extremely sensitive.

I'm glad you are getting info from guys that have been through this. My questions are the ones I would ask any friend doing any elective surgery. Have you thought it out fully? Is this your only option? I don't need and answer. Good luck and make sure you ask the post surgery erection question.

There's no easy answer to your question. Recovery after any surgery is very different from person to person.

Generally, you should plan to have someone help you with basis stuff for the first day- especially if you've had general anesthesia. In most cases of adult circumcision, there's a pressure bandage applied that can be a bit uncomfortable. Take the pain pills as prescribed whether you think you need them or not- it's better to keep the pain under control before it gets to be really painful.

The first 72 hours after a surgery are the worse then it starts getting better. Swelling peaks between 24 and 48 hours and this is generally when most people say they have the most pain.

The issue of erections also varies. Some guys say they had problems with erections the first few days, especially at night. Others say that they couldn't get hard at all. What I usually recommend is that guys try different underwear after surgery- support briefs, boxers and boxer briefs - try them the first few days to find what works for you. Some guys find that hanging loose is better while others say they wanted to keep everything tight and not moving at all.

You'll survive and in the end, you'll probably be happy with the result- most guys who have circs for phimosis seem to be.

I was circumcised at 21. When I think back to being uncut (i.e. phimosis and a painful, recurring infection with a worrying discharge) I am glad glad glad my foreskin is gone.

I remember having to be very careful with my uncut dick. Now that I'm cut I can really bang it around and get really rough with it. I love that.

I hope your surgery goes well! Good luck with the recovery!

I just got circumcised few days ago and damn, the worst time of life ( although it is getting better now, just the small spiky public hair that stings ). I have phimosis as well, so at least I am happy with that skin is gone

All I can say is: "Go for it." I am. I know a large number of male friends who are and like me are procircumcision in every way. Yes, after the surgery there will be some pain. All I can say is: No pain, no gain.

Since this thread dates back to Feb, 2011 and he refers to his surgery next week, it's safe to assume it's long over with.
