Though I'm not in my middle age yet, I've decided to let things happen naturally.

Well, I do like to tan, but I don't see myself in my 50s hitting the salon.

There are certain things over which I have no control. So, I'm not going to worry too much about them. After all, what good would that do?

I'm 58 years young and proud of it !
I've done alot of things that most people havent even thought of doing.
I've travelled 1/2 way around the world.
I've talked with thousands of people from alot of different countries.
I've tried alot of things at least once....some things I tried twice....3 times if I liked it...LOL
I've been gay all my life and have no regrets.
Now I have younger people coming to me for advice.
Its a wonderful life !
But - I wouldn't want to go thru it again in todays world.
I'm glad I was born when I was !

What's so wrong with trying to look your best? I don't see anything wrong with an older gay man dyeing his hair or going to a tanning salon. Women do this all the time and nobody recoils at their audacity. What is ridiculous in an older man (gay or straight) when they attempt to act, dress and talk like a young person. I saw a middle-age, over weight guy on a beach in Florida and he was wearing a thong. Now THAT was a horror show!

Fit and trim is about living,
I choose life.
Experiencing adventure is about living.
I choose life.
Being a gray head and wise is about living.
I choose life.
Learning three new languages this year is about living.
I choose life.
Teaching children to learn to read and read well is about living.
I choose life.
Being an old man, is also an adventure and about living.
I choose life.

I know that in todays society everything is in the young fit and trim mode. But the simple truth is that every day you live is a day older and all the hair dye and tanning beds and work outs isnt going to change a thing. You can dye your hair but its still grey hair. You can tan your skin but its still old and wrinkeld skin, just tanned to make the wrinkels stand out more. Nothing and I do mean nothing looks worse than an older man trying to look young with dye and tanning or whatever. The most important thing is to keep youself well groomed and have a good personality.I have seen some really buff guys who thought they were the stuff but then find out they had the personality of a toad. Sinse you have read this so far you are a few minutes older....Please guys dont try to hide behind chemicals and false hopes of being young forever because its just not going to work, it actually makes your age stand out more.

Tanning with the sun will actually cause more wrinkles (not sure about tan beds though) since the rays damage the cells. Using anti-aging lotions from a younger age (in your 20s) would be more effective since you’re nurturing your skin with vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants before the wrinkles appear, they may not prevent them in the long run but they do slow down their appearance as you get older.

Anyway, in the near future it might take people even longer to age with the new technologies that scientists are trying to develop such as stem cell therapies and cloning organs and body tissues, which will most likely replace plastic surgery in the near future.

very true - to continue living we all get older and look that way. it does NOT bother me at all - it's not avoidable, and the alternative with artificial things is so obvio and also sad.

It’s unavoidable for now, but in the future with stem cells and cloned organs and tissues; we'll take a very long time to age. Scientists believe that type of technology might be available in 15-20 years from now.

Anyway, there's nothing wrong with wanting to look young and beautiful for a longer time.

Who cares about trying to be young, it's really overrated especially in the gay community. I've had more older men tell me they wish they could be younger and fit like the young generation.

I tell them one day they will be in the same position as you, complaining, saying they have gray hairs on their head, on their chest, saying that they're too old. I've seen older men who try look young and they do a TERRIBLE job at doing it. When you look at them they seem to have wax all over there face which makes them look like a plastic doll, they dye their hair a different color, and they work out to death trying to get that trim sexy body every young guy can achieve.

Let yourself age gracefully, don't use hair products, skin creams to make you look younger, you will probably be spending four times as much money trying to look young than enjoying your life as it is. If you want to become fit do it for your health not because you need to be young to fit in with the younger gay generation.
