"Getting to know you...

I have two mid-Victorian oil paintings which I inherited from my grandmother. I also have a few books of a similar vintage.

Who was the oldest ancestor you have a photo of?
 
Probably a 3X great grandmother who immigrated to the States from Germany. I have pictures of several 2X great grandparents. When you go back far enough in time, I think the state of the photography at the time begins to come into question. There are a couple of photos that I've wondered if they may have been misattributions, simply because I doubt that photography of that quality would have been available at the time of the photos in question.

Who was the oldest ancestor that you've met who was alive in your lifetime?
 
My great-grandmother. She was the only one of my great-grandparents who was alive when I was born. She died at the age of 87 when I was 4.

Did you know all four of your grandparents?
 
No. I only got to meet three of them. My dad's father passed away before I was born. I think he was in his 50s. The other three died at 96, 95, and in the late 80s.

What about you?
 
A cousin of mine was a member of the 70's/80's R&B group Midnight Star.

No. I changed my broadband provider earlier this year and the landline finally went. The previous provider insisted on a landline, although I never used it.
