"Getting to know you...

Today I'm going to deal with the recycling and then do my usual Sunday grocery shopping. I always pick up the food for our lunches on Sundays while The Boy does the rest of the shopping on his day off. Once I get back I plan to clean my car and then harvest all of the plants from the outdoor pots. It's time to get ready for fall. I have a pot roast in the slow cooker for dinner tonite and might make a rhubarb crisp.

Same ?

this morning I did 2 loads of laundry, we finished insulating the porch floor. Shortly we are going to Krystopher's 6 year birthday party.

I like History & Learning Channels but I don't tune in as often as I should - I watch too much news!

Do you enjoy biographies?

To be honest I've only read one persons biography, that was Sir. Richard Bransons.

It was quite an interesting read... He's one of the people in life who I look up to, he's done himself proud with all his businesses...

Same question...

I am reading the Private papers of Harry Truman, he is also amazing. I found the book in my mom's book stash after she died.

Back to Steve's original question. Do you watch the History Channel, or anyting like it in the UK?

Not the history channel, I watch Discovery and Discovery Wings quite a bit...

I watch "Seconds from Disaster" and "Air Crash Investigation", they're pretty interesting programs (quite upsetting sometimes though...)

You watch any informative documentary channels?

History, Discovery, PBS, Bravo, TLC, A&E, etc. We have a lot of them, and sometimes they are very good. Sometimes boring.

Do you have a savings account?

I am both. I have saved all my life, and still do. But I am at the point in life when I can start spending it.

Do you have any retirement savings accounts?

Not just yet, a lil too young I think, although I suppose the sooner I start it the better... I'll have to wait and settle in to my permanent career first...

You enjoy work?

I have not worked since January, and miss it some, and other times not. I start again in 5 weeks.

As a student you need not start retirement accounts. Once you start in your carreer the sooner the better.

Since no question was asked I'll respond again to Aviator

I do like my work. Mine is a high pressure job and sometimes it can get the best of me. I was away for a week this month on vacation and then sick for three days. When I finally returned on Thursday of last week I realized how much I missed the place and, thankfully, they missed me!

Do you enjoy shopping for food?

Not any more, I used to like food shopping. The meats around here are getting harder to select, we need butcher shops. Varieties of foods are getting weird.

Do you have butcher shops locally? Or do you buy your meat in the super market?

We buy all of our meet from a butcher shop that sells nothing but aged AAA beef and pork and free range chicken. There is no comparison.

What about fruits and veggies - from the store or do you go to a farmer's market?

I do not go to farmers markets, they are expensive. I do go to the farms and We have 3 Super Market Chains. 2 have excellent fruit and veggies, plus I do grow my own. We have only 1 butcher shop left and it sells select and choice grade. Only one market sells Prime and I wonder how much of it is. I have to drive 30 miles to the nearest butcher shop that is good.

Do you go to the farmers markets or the farm stands?

90% of our fruits and vegtables come from the grocery store. When we go to the Farmer's Market we'll pick stuff up there

When do you start Christmas shopping?

I have stopped doing Christmas shopping. We had stopped buying for the adults except the parents, and only gave to the kids. Now they live in different States and Countries so I send the parents the money and they pick up stuff for the kids for me. Mine are in Georgia, Oklahoma, N. Carolina and France.

When do you start?

Usually right after the first week of September. I don't have a lot of gifts to buy so it goes pretty quickly

Have you ever taken a vacation over the holidays?
