Last night I was taking a bath. The house was empty. I clearly heard loud footsteps pass down the hall, open a door and close it. I quickly got out of the bath tub, wrapped a towel around my waist, and went to find who it was. The house was still empty. There is no evidence that anyone came in the front door. This has happened several times before and always follows the same pattern.

Strange, and creepy.

My house was built in 1896 and has had an interesting history, there have been many 'visitors' and occurances. I just got used to it. Next time ask him to give your back a quick scrub...lol

If the ghost actually gave me a back scrub I'd shit twinkies. Anyway, with my luck, the ghost is probably a homophobic redneck.

Sounds like a Residual Haunting to me. This is when an entity is "stuck" reliving the same event over and over again without change, like a broken record. They may not even be aware of any outside presence.

The advice of most paranormal experts in this case is that if it's not terribly bothering you don't worry about it and don't be afraid of it. It's just something that happens and isn't meant to scare you or harm you in any way.

Try setting up a video camera, see if you can get it on tape! Seeing a door open and close on it's own on tape is freaky cool, beleive me i know, i've done it. Also you might get some audio evidence if you set up an audio recorder when you're out of the house.

The residual haunting thing does seem correct in your case. Some scientists theorize that it isn't a "ghost" at all present in these types of occurances. Instead, they believe that it's more like a recording of an event that took place in the house. Certain circumstances and conditions may lead to energy being released during an event which becomes embedded in the surroundings. This recording can then be replayed when the conditions are right.

However, these types of things are usually associated with tragic events in which the person or people to which it is happening are in such physical and mental peril that they leave an energy imprint in their surroundings. Someone walking down the hall and entering a room certainly doesn't sound very perilous, but of course, this is all theory.

There has always been this ominous presence in my house. My father claims to have seem a woman walk in from outside, through the wall, and proceed down the hall. But Dad likes the tequila, so who knows. :)

But lately my closet door has been opening itself. I've a thing about closets and it's freaking me out! I've blessed the entrances to my room with holy water, so we'll see what happens.

That is bad ass!!! I too would like to live/stay over night in a haunted house. I mean I'm a pussy so it would scare the shit out of me, but non the less it would be cool as hell. I also think it would be cool to be able to be a paranormal investigator. Thats a job I would like to have. ..|

Probably won't see an image unless they want to be seen...........(!)

People still take baths??? I just figured, ya know, since they invented the shower and all....
Aw hun, you have to make some time and have one. Light some candles, soft music, maybe some wine.

Dad being a minister, we'd move every 3-5yr, each move being to a bigger community. Of course, we lived in the church parsonage. All of them were quite nice houses, but some of the older, larger ones could also be quite "creepy"! And, yes, we believe some were haunted! After one particular move, we think the ghost moved with us! We even gave "him" a name ... Geoffery. ..|

When I tell people about our experiences, some tend to think I'm making it all up, or just crazy! And though some of the things that happend were quite unsettling, as long as no real harm was done, we tended to think of our "visitors" as just part of the family! After a while, it was almost "comforting" to have them around! (group)

Keep smilin'!!(*8*)
Chaz ;)

I don't believe in ghosts but maybe it's because i've never experienced anything 'supernatural'?....

Does anyone ever watch the show Ghost Hunters on sci fic channel? I think it is the best show about Ghost findings and everything, because they really look at all the possibilities of the findings before labeling anything paranormal. Makes the show more believable.

every wed night! :) and i loved the live 6 hour investigation halloween nite. I wish they'd do it more often.

I'm a pussy when it comes to being scared, but i would so sit at a computer and watch cameras for them any day.

Don't have to call it a ghost, the truth is i have NO idea what actually causes some of these things to happen. All i know is that it doesn't fit anything i KNOW OF. Ghost, spirit, entity, residual energy? i don't know, but finding that out is part of the fun.

Not neccessarily, could be related to a very happy or fond memory. Or someone repeating a routine they repeated day after day in their life, and are still stuck doing.

Thank god my house isn't haunted, but I've been to a lot of houses that have been. My favorite haunted city in California to go to is Redlands.

Maybe it likes seeing naked men.

I remember waking up one night because I heard running around in my lvingroom and running up and down the stairs.
I thought it was my cat being a little shit so I got up opened my door and she was sitting right outside it looking out into the living room.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that cats won't enter/stay in a haunted house or room. I'll admit that each time I've heard a freaky noise and the cat is sleeping peacefully that I've assumed it's not a ghost or something suchlike.

Undoubtedly, though, I read it in the Big Book of Old Wives' Tales and it is a lie. Anyone know anything about this?

I'm so jealous! I've always wanted to live in a haunted house :(.

Our house is about 150 years old and there are places that our cats won't go. For whatever reason, none of them will go into the bedroom that we use for storage. They will poke their heads in the door but won't cross the threshold. Other than that, there have been a few times that I felt like I was being watched(and nobody was there),but that's about it.
