Evidently, Newt is determined to prevent Romney enough delegates to capture the nomination and said he will not leave the race.

Asked if he would end his campaign should his wealthiest backer, Sheldon Adelson, urge him to do so, Newt Gingrich insisted Friday he would stick it out until the very end.

I wonder what kind of payout Newt is seeking from Romney to leave the race at this point? Evidently, he feels that the nomination would have been his if it weren't for Romney going negative on him.

Bad blood between these two.

For all intents and purposes the Ginge has already left the race.

He is now zombie Gingrich.

Well, he will not capture the nomination, but I suppose he will stay in to keep preventing Romney from getting to 1,144. I suppose every little bit helps.

I am enjoying this. Santorum, Gingrich, and Paul all remaining in the race are making life very difficult for Romney on the road to 1,144.

The most enjoyable part is that they are all preoccupied with slagging off each other and exposing more and more of their opponents' weak spots that by the time the GOP actually nominates someone, there won't be hardly a voter left who will pinch thier nose and vote for the Nominee.

whatever dignity Newt showed early on during the debates - often with thoughtful ideas and seeming conviction

has been washed down the drain with his whiny rhetoric here

he had come back from the dead and provided a somewhat positive message early on

and now he's back to his old tricks

egomaniacal and unable to get along with anyone

perhaps he should join the JUBBERclubbers - if he could just get over the sucking cock thing ;)

The adulterous abomination con-artist has books to sell, jewelry to buy and mistresses to pay for. As long as his billionaire sugar daddy foots the bill, this attention whore will do his best to stay in front of the cameras and suck up all the right wing attention he can divert to his pudgy self.

Yes indeed.....the Republican sideshow circus continues.

I saw a report (on, I think, Keith Olbermann's COUNTDOWN) which featured a poll showing that, if Newtieboy dropped out of the race, slightly more of his "freed" votes would go to Romney in the primaries, than to Santorum.

I actually have a LOT of trouble believing this. Newt and Rick are FAR more similar, than are Newt and Mitt.

Furthermore, I think a lot of Newt's voters are "red meat type" voters - they'll lean more toward the candidate who motivates mob mentality and over-the-top displays of opinion and ego. Mitt simply does not inspire that type of voter at all.

I agree with them. It's one of the assumptions I made recently projecting the outcome of this race.

Newt likes to portray himself as an intellectual. Many of his followers are attracted to at least the appearance. Romney manages to appear as something of an intellectual. Santorum... not so much.

Romney won Puerto Rico today increasing his delegate count to around 520. He's just about half way there.

Newt is an idiot. He's in it for himself, not his country. If he had any dignity at all he would bow out and support one of the front runners.

Newt is the poster boy of the GOP for moral Christian family values.
