I will never be able to understand the Bisexual-Hate.

It is irrational especially coming from gay people.

I don't even know where to start. Originally I was just going to troll the thread with photos like I do most Hot-Topic discussions but this thread will get hot real quick and I am not in the mood to be punished

It doesn't exclusively. Even if people actually believe you're bisexual you still get shit. From what I've seen, bisexuals often get it worse from straights than gays because we "have a choice to be normal and we fuck it up" (at least that's what my uncle and cousin were screaming at me when they were beating the shit out of me with bats when I came out to my family). And then we get it from the gays for leaving them for women or not staying exclusively with men.

hmph... well i think this made sense. this was my first experience with a bi guy in a relationship sense, i don't think that i would have minded if he told me that he was bi to begin with.

They were convicted of capitol offenses in a federal court so I won't be seeing them again.

I dated a guy for almost a year. I did know he was bi. He broke up with me.

About a month later he called me to invite me to his wedding. His wedding to the woman he was dating while he dating me. (Something I didn't know about)

I still think he's a nice guy. But, I can't explain what was going on inside his head.

To jason's point, why do bisexuals seemingly have the association (to both gays and straights) that they're cheating, morally-comprised, sex-hungry-at-all-other-costs, manipulative individuals? It's even acceptable to joke in pop culture (Dana Carvey, Jay Leno, Robin Williams, etc.) about how being a bisexual must be ideal because it's all, "Oh, hi, nice to meet you, wanna screw?" - or worse, "What, do they have no standards? Oh, you'll do." I remember hearing an outcry from GLBT groups about the "bisexual serial killer" in "The Talented Mr. Ripley" (and other depictions of bisexuals in film), and why'd he have to be bisexual at all? To make him extra morally compromised to an audience, or something?

We're seeing some anecdotes in this thread about behavior that is not the greatest from bi guys, but that behavior happens with at least as much frequency among girls or guys and straight relationships - or among exclusively gay relationships, too. But when evaluated, that's always just termed to be "That girl/guy was a complete jerk", and not an attack or reflection on bisexuality.

I didn't mean I understood...no that was an asshole move. Made worse when I found later that the girlfriend knew about me, but I didn't know about her. We live in towns about an hour apart, so it was easy to keep me from finding out.

I think what I meant was: beside this one shitty thing he was a nice guy. But, I'm not going to spend the rest of life trying to figure him out, he's not worth it. And I guess that would my advice to OP.

For straights, it's the same reason they think all gays are sluts - we have sex with men and some find that reprehensible. For gays, I've found one of three reasons are the answer:

1) Even subconsciously, they use it as an outlet to channel the hate and ridicule they've been dealt at the hands of straights onto someone else i.e. the Bully Complex.

2) It's something they aren't so they feel they can look down upon it and use it as an excuse to blame other negative personality traits on (this is also my theory of why religious straights look down on gays as sinners and not themselves as liars/cheaters/coveters/etc).

3) A bisexual has hurt them in the past and they focus on the traits of that one person and others like them instead of looking at us objectively. I learned about this in one of my psych classes, it's quite common, but I forget the term.

I don't know that this is fair. The knee-jerk anti-bi response I see on here too often makes me much more circumspect about telling gay guys I am a bi guy. It has nothing to do with honesty.

All you need to know, all I need to be honest about, is that I'm giving you 100% of my attention.
