Rudy Giuliani seems to be far more interested in making money than he is in protecting America -- he was appointed to the very senior White House Iraq Study Group but failed to attend a single meeting! He was kicked off the panel due to "attendance problems," it seems.

Giuliani has shown a curious lack of interest in discussing how he would solve the Iraq War. Makes one wonder, don't it?

WASHINGTON -- Rudolph Giuliani's membership on an elite Iraq study panel came to an abrupt end last spring after he failed to show up for a single official meeting of the group, causing the panel's top Republican to give him a stark choice: either attend the meetings or quit, several sources said.

Giuliani left the Iraq Study Group last May after just two months, walking away from a chance to make up for his lack of foreign policy credentials on the top issue in the 2008 race, the Iraq war.

He cited "previous time commitments" in a letter explaining his decision to quit, and a look at his schedule suggests why -- the sessions at times conflicted with Giuliani's lucrative speaking tour that garnered him $11.4 million in 14 months.

Giuliani failed to show up for a pair of two-day sessions that occurred during his tenure, the sources said -- and both times, they conflicted with paid public appearances shown on his recent financial disclosure. Giuliani quit the group during his busiest stretch in 2006, when he gave 20 speeches in a single month that brought in $1.7 million.

On one day the panel gathered in Washington -- May 18, 2006 -- Giuliani delivered a $100,000 speech on leadership at an Atlanta business awards breakfast. Later that day, he attended a $100-a-ticket Atlanta political fundraiser for conservative ally Ralph Reed, whom Giuliani hoped would provide a major boost to his presidential campaign.

The month before, Giuliani skipped the session to give the April 12 keynote speech at an economic conference in South Korea for $200,000, his financial disclosure shows.

Well, he had a chance to learn something about foreign affairs and he blew it off in favor of fattening his wallet. With absolutely no background in international affairs, how does he expect to become president? Oh, I know -- by scaring the shit out of Republicans with his, "THEY'RE GOING TO FOLLOW US HOME AND KILL US IN OUR SLEEP" speech -- that'll do it, right? No. America needs a president with his eye on the ball, not his hand on his wallet.

Now, can you imagine if Hillary Clinton (gasp!) blew off the White House Iraq Study Group? OMFG, the wingnuts would be hysterical.
GA, since Chance has you on ignore, I thought I'd copy your entire post so he has an opportunity to defend Giuliani's actions. I don't know a lot about Rudy so I'm interested in hearing a response from Chance who seems to like him.

Like many others, I fervently hope Al Gore announces his candidacy and saves this wretched country and the mess the Bushies have put us in.

I can't wait for Chance to chime in, I have to defend Rudy now. Rudy knew that the administration was not going to pay the least bit of attention to anything that the Iraq Study Group said, so naturally he chose to make some money to help with those alimony payments and maybe help Bernie with some of those legal fees.

^ Republicunt?

where's Homo to decry the typo? LOL

I should add to my attributes list (of the 80) the incessant use of terms towards Repubs that include an anti woman derogatory phrase

Your so interested in Korea. You know I ate something that resembled this photo in Pohang in '98. They bring these cute little torch fired grills to your table and some lettuce (fertilized with human feces), and some other odds and ends. Then they drop off some sliced meat from rover and the party is on. Of course I think they had rabbit or rat on a stick late at night off the hibachi's. I prefer to think of rabbit but the legs were awfully small. ANyways this thread has Dogs and Korea in it so it goes with the theme.

I wonder if Rudy has eaten a dog. Now that is something I can vote for....Culture.

Besides bile, cuz we all know Liberals love bile to choke on, what exotic items have you all have eaten in the name of foreign policy. Now I was practicing my version of foreign policy by doing a little training "show of force" exercise with the ROK white tigers. When I was introduced to their lovely cuisine. Of course I ate a rotted egg from the Philippines once, that sucked too.

Wait the ISG wasn't really about foreign affairs, it was about quitting early before the job is complete. I can't imagine why Rudy wouldn't wanna be associated with a group that was going to decide in a direction that is against his.

SO yeah Hillary would slobber at being in the ISG but get that women a ticket to the NRA's southern Classic and she would run for the hills.

Cuz we get our hair did and we then needs some R-E-S-P-E-C-T, so uhhhh!

I dunno why so many politicians are such prima donnas screaming like mad men, scowling because menopause hit so hard, primping like beauty queens or trumping around the planet on your private jet screaming it is hot today. I simply don't know.

It is not possible that he got on the panel. The networking started to occur and the heavyweights start to push out their focus for the group and if the foucs point started out this war is wrong we must save face and run at the same time. Not possible I know that at that point he decided to not waste his time.

Ok typical Alfie. The question is Is it not possible. if you read the entire post you cn use your intelligence to infer the meaning. I apologize for making such a highly technical error that you could not figure it out. Now respond to the idea posted with a response instead of the theatrics we are accustomed to in JUB. WHo was it that said in another thread that the 20 doen't respond with anything other than name calling.

SHeesh.

Giuliani was completely wrong here.....his priorities were at best skewed, and instead of gaining more credibility he does no shows and contributes nothing. His big bucks speaking fees /consulting business gig to me is a total turn-off.In the end,he's a complete turn-off.I want a tough minded president who is also pragmatic, and on foreign policy he comes off as too inflexibly focused on keeping on the offensive in the Middle East at all costs. If he had been a good member of the Commission,he may have learned a few things to temper his red meat approach. But he had other priorities, which says a lot about him not in a favorable way.
