^ yeah guys

The NY Times is a big player in Texas

not quite as large (read small) as the gay population in Texas (insert sarcastic emoticon)

It's fucking huge (insert large sarcastic emoticon also)

and in other parts of the U.S. other than NYC and Wash DC

keep telling urself that

It's a liberal big city (NYC big city) raggedy rag

it is what it is

The NY Post goes the other way - no bones about it

see that's the diff my man and my men

open ur eyes so u can see in front of u

As for me, I read it the NY Post for the sports - Pete Vescey is the best - ck it out - maybe they have it in Austin - probably "huge" in San Antonio

see politics isn't the only thing

and liberal leaning thinking isn't the only thing

u just think it is

this is fun

more to come guys

we're just getting started (insert - well u know)

^ Hmph.

If I didn't know you any better, I'd almost detect an air of New York City superiority to the rest of the country in that post.

While New York City was reeling from the collapse of the World Trade Center, and the massive loss of lives on the day of and the days that followed 9/11, the rest of the country was being worked up into a frenzy over "capturing the perpetrators."

Now I've lived in New York City. I know the neighborhoods, I know the pride that people who live and work there have in their city.

Even I've admitted that "It's the Center of the known Universe."

So please don't presume that the rest of the country can't see what you see. Because it appears to me that you're not looking outside of your own comfort zone. (*8*)

More to come? Bring it! :D

I don't have to use colorful words, innuendo, or invective to discuss this topic!

I want to lead by example. ;)

thanks for making my point Iman

thanks a lot

rich white liberal males read the NYT

no one outside of NYC, Wash DC and outside of the media - in the U.S. - reads the NY Times

that "everyone in wash" reads it - kinda ruins it right? - cause we all know wash dc is broken right?

that's ur way of defending the NYT "everyone is wash dc" reads it

woooo hooooooooooo

it DOESN'T reflect the values of Americans - their politics - their anything - u know the Americans who DON'T live in NYC or Wash DC

the NYT is like a private club - nose in the air - PRIVATE - segregated

"everyone of consequence" reads the NYT - so says u

u have just eliminated most of the U.S. and the free world

how telling

how pompous

I love it when others make MY point BETTER than me

this is the equivalent to a grand slam - FOR ME

The NYT is great for packing though - putting breakables in boxes when ur moving - great paper for that

I will not respond to Alfie's personal attacks - which r coming hot and heavy - he is apparently "in heat" - I get it

raining here - we were due

peace out

Interesting little rant by Chance, not that they all aren't, but there are several common right wing themes present in this one.

The most obvious is the denigration of anything or anyone that attempts to adhere to a high standard in their chosen field. Standards become elitist, attempts at excellence become aristocratic and anti-democratic when they are at odds with right wing causes. By those standards we should dismiss Tiger Woods or Roger Federer and celebrate athletes with talent as mediocre as our own. Who does Tiger think he is coming in at 19 under par?

The NYT is far from perfect, but they attempt to get it right and have adopted serious standards of journalism. That is different from the screaming pandering headlines of Murdoch rags, but it is not elitist, or sillier yet, liberal, unless you think we should do no better than The Post or The Daily News.

It is insecurity and fear that corrupts the right, and Rove, Murdoch, Falwell and so many others have learned how to ignite that fear and insecurity.

Too bad the best institutions in America have to be denigrated to make you all feel better about yourselves. Maybe we should all go beat up Tiger and see if our golf scores improve, at least we won't look as bad.

Not to mention. . . if the NYT is so , well, "marginal," then why all the hoopla? Chance and his right-wing idols are insensed because the Betray-us ad got national attention. . . and then their whining put it in front of every American, and half the known universe!

ur "detection" skills r pretty OFF [-X

cause my point is JUST THE OPPOSITE

as in NYC DOES NOT rule the universe

So maybe ur doing ur George Costanza imitation - remember when "he's the opposite of every man" - very funny episode :gogirl:

and whatever ur drinking, send me some - I got 36 minutes til I go - so make it quick Centex - isn't centex an explosive???

;)

nice diversion I MAN

focus on the "I"

as for "rants", ur veering into Federer/Woods schtick qualifies bigtime

my points are much simpler for the common man - the "not have to NYC based man", to understand

I wonder if explosiveman is gonna detect this right?

The NYT is an ELITE paper - ride the subway Iman - see how many common men and women are reading the NYT - u will have to look very hard - but don't waste ur time - cuz they don't have it - they don't get it - they don't WANT it

and it's kinda expensive too - not for the masses dontcha know

Rove? WTF??????
Falwell?? WTF X 2 ????????

and u talk about rants?

woooooooooooooooo

ur post has absolutely NOTHING to do with my post

and i imagine it took u a long time to compose it too

The Departed is on cable right now - no one in this movie is reading the NY Times

cya

Well, the universe, much like Manhattan, isn't what it used to be, but they both still make a lot of sense, if in a crazy fucking way.

Still, it must be said, chance1 does not reflect NYC in the least, not any part worth its status as part of this greatest of cities. Howard Beach, Staten Island, perhaps, but not progressive Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx -- certainly not Manhattan. You see, New York isn't a frightened place; fear is best banished. NYC isn't paranoid, NYC isn't interested in second place or second best. This city values the individual, this city takes people as they are, sometimes changing them, sometimes not, but stasis? Stasis isn't in the DNA of this place. This city reflects a rainbow, it has never been monochromatic, as represented by the scaredy-cat, bedwetting right. Chance represents something, I'm sure, but it's not NYC.

contrary to the above, i have not hired alfie to represent me or my thoughts

despite his attempts to do so

close ur eyes and read alfie's post - and picture him on all fours - on a soapbox in times square - pounding his chest - as he howls

I am a NYer thru and thru - born in Queens, lived in NYC for a while, work in NYC, party/entertain in NYC

saw SuperBad last night with some buddies - really good - check it out

Um, tell me, Mary, how can one be on "all fours" and pound their chest at the same time? Just asking, that's all.

Rather than participate in a cheap and futile drive-by, I think you should concern yourself with proving your silly and wild-eyed assertions. Without that, you stand naked (uggggh!) as a loud-mouthed howler.

ur sooooooooo literal dog breath

on all fours - as in ur REALLY a dog - get it? woof woof

like u have 4 legs - not 2 like the rest of us JUBBERS

try to read between the lines

I know it's tough when the mind is fuck this fuck that etc [-X

is all

foaming at the mouth has its drawbacks my friends

reduces the ability to go with the flow

off for a ride

i still like dogs a lot

but not this particular one

he needs obedience training

That's the first time I've had centex being equated to being an explosive.

The best one was from a JUBber, who I miss seeing around here, who thought that centex was something that I grew. He wanted to know where he could get a box of it.

So I'll break it down for you:

Centexfarmer = Central Texas Famer

So now I have a couple of questions.

If Random Access and Random Dude had a kid, would he be called Access Dude, or Dude Access? :p

Who is Chance? I've been lead to believe that he's neither a Chance, one or two.

Who's the white dog? Is that Alfie, or General?

Mindless questions to ponder on a Sunday morning.

It doesn't matter really. [-X

I'm off to march in the Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade in Dallas!

Scenes from last year:

:rainfro:pride:

ur gonna miss some real good shit today centex

bring the shovel to clean it up later

have a great time
