Glee! [merged]

Kurt saying, "I'll never say goodbye to you" to Blaine made me choke up.

I'm happy I watched it online for less commercials. The episode is only 56 minutes long...a normal episode is like 42 to 45...10 extra minutes of tv with 20+ of commercials for this extra "half hour"

that said...I love this episode and I think it's now my favorite episode.

1) I identify with Dave Karofsky. I was so far in the closet til I was 20 the christmas presents were looking for me. I was an ass and a bully. I understand the self hate the character has but I took the self hate to an even worse level then he has on the show. The actor portraying him is doing a great job, anyone catch his face at the end when he's sitting with Santana? I know that look. I've looked like that before. Its when you're so scared to admit to yourself that you might be gay but you can't fight it anymore. David's character isn't fueled by hate anymore but he's terrified and feeling hopeless and alone.

2) Quinn/Lucy. Her in the 8th grade? Me. This was before I even found out I liked guys and after. I was 300 pounds, I hated myself and everyone around me. I had no real friends to speak of. So I changed everything like she did but minus the surgery. Only cause I couldn't afford it and my parents would never have let me. I became utterly fake and ashamed of who and what I used to be. Thankfully I couldn't move away so I still have friends who knew me before the change. I can see myself in Quinn as she's going to revisit "Lucy". The two will merge and she will be happy with herself (notice the hair during "Born this way").

3) Emma. I once had an ex-gf who told me she was taking pills for anxiety/personality stuff (It was 5 years ago, forgive me for not remembering). She asked me if she was really being herself if these meds were to change her personality. I told her "The person you are is the person you choose to be. If you choose to take these pills because you want to be this person and you like being this person. Thats who you are". I still stand by this. If they came out with some "straight pill" and someone wanted to be that person and took that medication to be that person. Thats the person they are (edit: though I don't endorse this and personally wouldnt take them).

We all have a lot in our past, I know I'm ashamed of a lot of it. But for the past 3 years I've finally liked who I am and I'm completely honest with myself and others. I'm happy with my life.

wow, totally didnt mean for this to become so long...I guess i just wanted to say how much this episode actually meant to me

^ There's a difference between accepting who you are and requiring medication. Her situation is literally debilitating...she requires medication. The diabetes/insulin comparison fell completely flat.

I'm on medication for OCD as well. I wouldn't change it for the world. Taking 30+ minutes to clean a shower stall before showering every day affected my life. Don't kid yourself. It has nothing to do with 'self acceptance'.

I liked this episode. And I thought that Darren's cover of Somewhere only we know was good.

The t-shirts confused me too. Anyone notice that Harry Shum was wearing "Can't Sing"? So why the hell is he on Glee...just for those annoying dance moves and bad acting?

4/26 Episode....Born this way number....OK....The T- shirts they were wearing were supposed to say something about themselves they didn't like...Kurt's said 'LIKES BOYS' that kind of pissed me off...each week like Santana more and more....Plus- they are supposed to be the least popular and most hated group in school, yet 3 of the girls are running for Prom Queen- you could only sell 6 tickets to your last show and people are going to vote for you.....reality never factors into this shit, does it?

Will wanted to get the Glee kids to embrace what made them different. That was the idea, at least, even if it got muddled in the execution.

what are you guys talking about? The t-shirts made sense. they wear whatever word/phrase that they hate about themselves. Quinn put Lucy Caboosy on her t-shirt because she hated her childhood image. Harry Shum's character can't sing so that's a part that he doesn't like about himself (especially being in the Glee club).

embrace the characteristics that you hate...that was the message of the episode.

so- Kurt hates that he likes boys...???? That's the problem people are having- 1 meant one thing, another was the the opposite

Yeah, Kurt's t-shirt bugged me too. Made no sense. Disappointing.

The last two episodes have been so incredibly routine, it's not funny.

Aren't you guys paying attention? The T-Shirts are about the things that kids hated about themselves but learned to accept it. Kurt in early season one wasn't out and probably slightly in denial, granted that it was long time ago, but it makes sense in context.

I totally agree, BlueLantern. Kurt probably feels the same exact way you did, aagold76. Just because you have thoughts that you hate Kurt because he dislikes the fact he likes boys, is totally contradictory. He hates it for the fact that you cannot choose who you like, nor love. Yes, he was "in-the-closet" for part/most of season 1. However, he has embraced the fact that no matter what he'll get picked on; though, he'll always be a better person because he's not the bully. See, personally during High School I felt pity for myself. I never wanted to be gay. I mean, I like boys. Who the hell cares? But it did relate to self-acceptance with Kurt, because he's out and likes who he is now. Plus, if you had Darren Criss, I'm sure you would too!

Glee was down 11 percent from last week; it was also a season low for the dramedy. The last time it posted such a low rating was on Nov. 25, 2009.

I'm pretty sure that was the worst episode of Glee I've ever seen, and possibly one of the worst tv episodes of all time... an hour and a half of encouraging kids to accept their mediocrity and shitting on anyone trying to better themselves? that's as bad as that piece of shit "It's a Wonderful Life" movie.

Lauren may like the way she looks, but she's probably going to get diabetes and die young from weight-related problems.

I think the a more positive spin on what you are saying is "we all have baggage and deal with it in a positive way". Some of the advice was silly.

There was a really excellent commercial for Dan Savage's It Gets Better project during tonight's episode.

Edited to add here's the ad.

It Gets Better

this and the fact that Santana got a solo song were the only worthwhile things about this episode....it was incredibly boring

No Blaine/Darren Criss = SNOOZE ep for me.

Though Santana is awesome, and her performance of "Songbird" was beautiful!

Yeah I think they're abandoning the comedy aspect of the show. At least the second half of the season, anyway...totally lacks direction.

Anywho, I'm happy Darren Criss is a regular cast member next season.
