Glee! [merged]

Wasn't crazy about this episode. Couple things that annoyed me:

1. Rachel has come across as this self entiltled bitch that no one really likes. The peak of this was her asking Finn to quit football. It just seems a little unreal.

2. John Stamos - I like him, but why is he on the show?

3. Those performances were copy cats of Britney's videos. Why would we want to watch a lesser version of what Britney has done.

4. Schue was annoying as hell in this episode. Again, very unreal. I really hope that he doesn't go back to his ex-wife.

My biggest problem with last night's episode was the lack of continuity and the lack of story.

I don't have an issue with these "tribute" episodes as long as they find a clever way to work the songs into the stories, but last night -- just like the Madonna episode -- it felt like the stories were either re-tooled to fit the songs or dropped completely.

For example, when did Mr. Schuester become such a stick in the mud? What happened to the easygoing guy who used to dance around like a nerd and perform "current" songs with the glee club like Golddigger, etc.? And Sue? Last season she championed Madonna as an icon and a trailblazer, yet all of a sudden she's offended by any artist who pushes the envelope sexually? Come again? It made no sense.

Rachel and Finn were annoying. Rachel has pretty much become a parody of herself, which isn't good considering she was a parody to begin with. She used to be a semi-rootable character, but now she's just a bitch. Don't we already have Quinn and Santana to fill that role?

Kurt has become annoying as hell. "We need to do Britney! We need to Britney! We need to do Britney!" Christ almighty, STFU.

John Stamos was great, but what is the point of his character?

The Britney videos were impressive (Heather Morris was fantastic), but they felt completely random and tacked on. What purpose did they serve? In what way did they advance the current plot? Oh, and the football team performing "Stronger" was ridiculous. It was all flash and no substance.

There were only two things I really enjoyed about last night's episode: the one-liners from Brittany and the bizarre pamphlets in Emma's office. Everything else was sorely disappointing. And to think... we have two more tribute episodes to sit through this season. The Rocky Horror one actually sounds good, but the post-Superbowl Jackson/Springsteen/whateverthefuck tribute doesn't interest me in the least.

I thought the post-Superbowl was gonna be Britney part 2? No?

did anyone else read that Gwenyth Paltrow will be guest starring on 2 or 3 episodes as a substitute teacher/love interest for Will? I read it on E!'s recap of last nights ep

Well apparently I find people twirling Sai's a turn on. Who'd of thought it?

Hmmm, I wodner if this episode is on BBC iplayer ... Yes it is!

I've said it before and I'll say it again a hot or cute guy doing (any) martial arts is an even bigger turn on when they know what they're doing.:D

Loved everything that came out of Brittany's mouth, and almost spit out my dinner at the "probed" line.

Other than that, I think this was the worst episode of the series to date.

I love this show, truly, and it's had some episodes with rough edges before, but I wondered if I was watching it jump the shark tonight. Next week's preview seemed to indicate a return to some real story-telling and seriousness, thank god. As much as I liked last week's episode, I hated this one.

Man, I totally agree with you on all you said (didn't want to quote it all, since you did write a lot!).

I have a friend who watched this episode as his intro to Glee, and he hated it.

I have to agree, the humor was not up to par, the songs were all music video rip offs, characters were acting out of character (wtf was with Kurt's insane outbursts at Schu?).

I'm really hoping this show doesn't turn into complete gay fanservice with little other substance... I already heard they are making a second Madonna episode.

Eighteen minutes into this episode and my god, this súúúúúúúcks.

It's funny but I actually liked this one and I usually hate the ones everyone else loves. I dont care about Kurt's outburst I just like him in small doses. Thank god Finn lost weight he actually looks kinda hot. He just needs to fix those baby teeth of his.

The parts where real Britney Spears came in were stupid. But that might have a lot to do with the fact that she is still so heavily limited from being remotely normal. Brittany's "Slave 4 U" dancing was pretty damn good. But none of the covers are worth buying on iTunes.

Things many agreed on:

* Brittany is the only one who shined in this episode without even changing her usual way of being.

* There were too many videos, not connected to the story.

* Kurt insisted so much on doing Britney and he didn't even say a Britney phrase.

* Rachel is a bitch.

And something else I say... It seems like they were like "er... we have to say nice things about Britney because she's right there looking at us... let's just pretend her career hasn't sunk" instead of seizing the chance to make the tribute she deserves. For example, Madonna's episode was cool. The songs were related to the story. For this one they just took some random songs and copied the videos almost frame by frame.

A little late. From last week's episode, This guy does a pretty good Rachel.

Last night was my first time watching this show, and I thought it was very entertaining and actually laughed out loud and some of the jokes & one-liners. Santana completely won me over, she's so sassy. I love her. Rachel & Fin’s relationship is already bugging me, don't know if Brittany will work as a more predominate character, and Kurt needed to shut up.

I love me some Brit-Brit but the whole homage aspect of the episode was actually my least favorite due to how poorly it was done. Anesthesia induced dream-sequences is the best they could come up with? Pfft. Major props though for the attention to detail in all of them. I thought the cast did well with her songs. Loved the jazzy version of "Toxic," "Stronger" sounds good with a male vocal, and "…Baby One More Time" though shrill & overdone worked for me. "Me Against the Music" and "I'm a Slave 4 U" were very karaoke.

This one episode has pretty much made me a fan of the show. I'm already contemplating on purchasing the 1st season on DVD.

I highly recommend watching the first season, it was pretty good.
