So Glen is off and running once more, comparing Obama's America to the Planet of the Apes...

http://www.eyesonfox.org/?p=914 for commentary.

Why am I not surprised that rareboy and others on the far-left think that was racist. I'm guessing you haven't seen the movie? You know, the part where Heston goes back to Earth and it's a completely different place.

if its nazi acusations or race baiting, you can bet it comes from fox and/or beck.

he's just pathetic and it shows the mentality behind the republican methodology as well as their plan.

lets be honest... politicians market themselves in a wide variety of ways. Trying to appeal to a set of voters, for any reason, race included, is a bipartisan approach.

The target group for the republicans is an Uber white majority. But instead of using positive methods to entice their demographic, they use hate and innuendo to acheive their appeal.

scaring old white ladies is no way to run a party. ( that sounds like a quote from an old Bette Davis flick...LOL )

The smaller his audience becomes, the more ridiculous he gets. This pathetic mess of a human is self-destructing as he gets more desperate. What's even more sad and demented are the people who agree with him. It's sad to see him degenerate into a parody of what actual reporting is.

Do you have any knowledge of history? Are you not aware of the long tradition in this country of depicting people who are considered sub-human as apes? Both African Americans and the Irish have been depicted that way. You need to turn off Fox News and read a little history. You do not seem to be a very well-read individual.

And you're extremelely gullible if you believe Beck was calling Obama an ape. Good grief. Your hatred for the man is so obvious that you're resorting to these insane assumptions.

Glenn Beck is a mormon and they do have racist doctrine and a history of racism towards blacks, I wouldn't put it past him.

Seriously, if you're gonna use a topic title like that, shouldn't this thread be stickied?

You're willfully ignorant and incapable of critical thought and analysis. The man is an ass and a clown. Anyone who supports him or believes him allows him to make a fool of them. Do you fall into that category?

Furthermore, why do you participate in threads, yet never answer a question that is put to you. You simply ignore any facts or argument that doesn't fit into your narrow, world view and resort to name calling and ad hominem attacks. Can you point to a single post you made that advanced an argument or in any way contributed to the discussion?

Let me give you an example of how this is done. I asked you if you were aware of the history in this country of depicting African Americans and the Irish as apes. You could have responded something like the following: Yes, I am aware. However, the comparison is not apt because the Glenn Beck excerpt _______. (fill in the blank). Or the following: I see your point. He may have been a little bit racially insensitive. However, it is unfair to call him or the segment racist because ___________. (fill in the blank). See how that works. You ought to try it sometime.

So do you stand behind that Jackoff just for argument or do you honestly believe in what he says?

I honestly don't think Glenn Beck was being overtly racist. I'd think so if it was Rush Limbaugh.

But Glenn Beck is just plain crazy and a moron. I don't think he realizes what he's doing most of the time.

I don't think comparing Obama's presidency to living on the Planet of the Apes is necessarily racist. But that choice of clip is a bit telling. If he had used the ending with the stature of liberty, the whole "You really did it!" rhetoric, it would have made perfect sense with what he was talking about.

But he used "Get your paws off me you damn dirty ape!" which holds none of the political comparisons to what he was saying. Only blatant-seeming racist ones.

But honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if someone picked the clip for him and he just didn't get how racist it seemed. He legitimately seems like an idiot and I'd be more worried about his FOLLOWERS, because anyone who could believe in such a blithering pile of flesh is very very dangerous.

EDIT: So I just realized right afterwards that apparently that clip added in from Planet of the Apes was NOT added in by Glenn Beck...apparently it was put in by whoever put it on youtube.

So I gotta say as much as I hate Glenn Beck, I don't see this as being racist at all actually.

I'm glad you edited your post and realized that it wasn't Beck who added the clip from the film.

The people who put together this video added the "Dirty ape" clip to make it racial. I saw this when it originally aired and there was no clip from the movie. If Beck had played anything from the movie there would of been a copyright claim, "Courtesy of: _____ (whichever film studio)" somewhere on the screen.

See post #12. There, I said the following:

You could have responded as follows: Yes, I am aware. However, the comparison is not apt because the Glenn Beck segment that aired did not include the clip from Planet of the Apes. That was edited in by the person who posted on Youtube.

See how that is a much more effective argument than what you actually responded, which was as follows:

And you're extremelely gullible if you believe Beck was calling Obama an ape. Good grief. Your hatred for the man is so obvious that you're resorting to these insane assumptions.

I would just like to note that my premise was that Beck had stuck his foot in his mouth. Not that he was being racist.

Only that he is so fucking stupid that he may not have actually had a clue that what he was saying could be misconstrued since it is just coincidental that planet of the apes is about earth being taken over by apes and of course there have been no end of cartoons and photoshop images of Obama as an ape and as has been pointed out, a history of over 150 years of African slaves and blacks as monkeys in an attempt to render them sub-human.

Perhaps it is the man's grotesque intellectual shortcomings that are most offensive to me. I can't abide stupid.

I can see him calling himself an avid teabagger, for instance.

Glenn Beck is a mormon and they do have racist doctrine and a history of racism towards blacks, I wouldn't put it past him.

Mormons are cultists, and disgustingly misled by their cult leaders just as Jehovah Witnesses are, Seventh Day Adventists, and others.

Glenn Beck freely admits he was a drunk, and a drug addict who barely made it through high school, and has never gone to college. Yet this asshat loves to talk about "history" and "tradition"? His education is so thin it makes bible paper look thick by comparison.

On another forum I once dissected one of his shows, and gave up 20 minutes into it as the logical fallacies he used breeched 50. If anyone likes this guy and believes him, they really are a waste of time to debate with as their own knowledge and education are more than likely non-existent.

laika -- r u nuts (well yeah you are). Whoever started this thread by identifying it as "Glenn Beck Puts Foot in Mouth Yet Again" needs to rethink the title. Your title suggests that remarks like this made by him are "mistakes". They're not, they are nothing but hate and ignorant rants straight from his heart. He knows exactly what he says, the manner in which he says it, and the manner and emotion that his hate spewing will be received by the right wing foxnut audience. Obviously, laika is his biggest fan.

He was actually accepted into Yale. A man who once had many vices and yet transforms himself into a 32-million-dollar-a-year businessman isn't stupid.

He was actually accepted into Yale. A self-made man who had many vices and yet transforms himself into a 32-million-dollar a year businessman isn't stupid.

He's no intellect, just a savvy racist who plays to the fears of the weak. He makes 32m a year only because of bigoted corporations paying him to gin up hate to bring idiot viewers in to buy their products. One day I hope america will wake up and start boycotting such corporations and shut down these racist and bigoted talk shows. there's no place for them in decent society.
