I reject the explanation as fact because since the beginning of time the planet has experienced many huge climatic changes. Our machines weren't even here for most of them.

Do you reject the fact that man is adding to the greenhouse gasses such as Carbon Dioxide by virtue of burning fossil fuels?

As for the Mencken quote, it is way more applicable to Bush and Iraq - where there was no threat and no decent evidence for a threat - than it is to global warming

They've melted before. They've grown before. There's been ice ages. There's been warm ages. In the 5 billion years the earth has existed, the earth has been through climates that are beyond your wildest imaginations. 5 billion years. That's a drop in the bucket compared to the recent thousands of years that global warming theories are based on.
