Maybe if they made some decent cars they wouldnt be begging for more money.

It is only 1.5 million cars made over a period of 7 years. It is no wonder many of my friends drive Toyota/Honda/Lexus/Infiniti cars.

most of those cars are 10 years old how many are even still on the road? not many and I would assume that they will fix it by throwing a 5 cent piece of plastic somewhere in there. No big deal its responsible of them to do a voluntary recall on a vehicles that old.

So rather than remove the cause of the fire ie. the oil leak, they remove what the fire could ignite. So it is perfectly ok to have oil leaking and naked flames on the exhaust manifold as long as you don't think it will set fire to anything else. What if the leak gets worse or the fans turn on and blow the flames onto something else. I couldn't believe what I was reading. I do hope it is a joke!

Oh yeah let's forget about all of those Toyota engines that just sludged up and quit working.

You have to look at the other side of this:

This recall will bring 1.5 million cars into a dealership.

This is HUGE for the dealership. Not only is it free money (essentially) but you have the chances to upsell!

Someone comes in with their 5 year-old GM for the recall. Well, the inspection looks like it needs $3k worth of work. Have a look at our new models... Who knows, some might spend the $3k.

With as many vehicles eligible under the recall, just a small percent of those buying a new car or a lot of work will make a difference to both GM and the dealers.

I do know that manufactures have issued recalls that weren't really necessary to drive business into their dealerships.

We're not talking "OMG BOOM" recalls.

Even though they said it's a fire hazard, really, it isn't.

I've seen old Mercedes with trans fluid leaking all over the cats. And those sob's are hot!! No fire.

It's merely precautionary at best.
