So i'm watching a show called Priest School, basically 7 Scottish guys training to become priests, and though it doesn't mention it, you can tell all of them are gay.

Have you ever felt called to the priesthood, i know i used to dream about becoming a priest, sadly this came to nothing as i soon realized i'd rather be God, there are times when i believe i am.

So have you ever had the calling, or perhaps someone you know has, a friend or family member ?

3 hours a week spent in church from the age of 1 to 18 was enough for me.

My family is religious but we're just spectators.

Alter boy ?

3 hours seems like an eternity, the whole school just had to traipse there for an hour ever Wednesday morning.

Not in the Baptist church. I quit going when they wanted me to start doing some duties in the church like passing the collection plate and the bulletin before service. I never liked having to greet everyone as they came in.

Many novice priests join up to hide from something, either their sexuality or some form of abuse or lack of self worth

And because God has called them into the faith.

I started preaching in my early 20's. It was easy almost natural to me to 'stir the crowd'. Most churches have teachings that I can't subscribe to, the liberal churches accept abortion as a woman's right to choose. The fundies believe that gays chose to be gay and will be condemned for all eternity. The glee that some have in telling others that gays are going to hell tells that they know nothing of God's grace and love. I still preach, but only to myself.

There were a few times where I wondered if God was calling me, but I decided against it. I was a little horrified that I would refuse God, but it wasn't what I wanted and he accepted my answer. I didn't get what I wanted anyway, so I probably wouldn't have been any worse off if I had become a priest.

Preachers are the group of people as a whole I trust the least - and a firm no about getting a calling to the priesthood.

I have many reasons - I will leave it at that

- and yeah - I have known probably more than my share - none of them were pleasant experiences and a few of them should have been in prison.

^ Always thinking about a naked triangle-haloed fellow standing impatiently in a monastery hall outside of the cells with his arms in his sides and tapping his bare foot.
"Married to God, they said!"

I could still happily become a Jesuit. But being a genetic protestant is a bit of an obstacle.

2,173,180,000 Christians (31% of world population), of which 50% are Catholic, 37% Protestant, 12% Orthodox, and 1% other.
1,598,510,000 Muslims (23%), of which 87-90% are Sunnis, 10-13% Shia.
1,126,500,000 No Religion affiliation (16%): atheists, agnostics and people who do not identify with any particular religion. One-in-five people (20%) in the United States are religiously unaffiliated.
1,033,080,000 Hindus (15%), the overwhelming majority (94%) of which live in India.
487,540,000 Buddhists (7%), of which half live in China.
405,120,000 Folk Religionists (6%): faiths that are closely associated with a particular group of people, ethnicity or tribe.
58,110,000 Other Religions (1%): Baha’i faith, Taoism, Jainism, Shintoism, Sikhism, Tenrikyo, Wicca, Zoroastrianism and many others.
13,850,000 Jews (0.2%), four-fifths of which live in two countries: United States (41%) and Israel (41%).

Only 50% of the Christians are Catholic so that number is equal to about 16% of the Population

you pick - 16% or even 31% - a clear minority - why people believe these fairytales no less dedicate their lives to it is beyond belief.... 69% of the world believes otherwise...

I have a cousin who's a catholic priest, and as gay as a unicorn. But that tv show sounds like fun. Is there a "best-of" on YouTube perhaps?

I considered, not the priesthood, but being a Franciscan Monk. I loved Saint Francis of Assisi, Patron Saint of the animals. But decided against it. Now that I look at the RCC, I would have left by this time and left organized religion altogether.

The RCC no longer accepts gays to become priests. It's harder because they blame homosexuality on the pedophilia within the church. You can thank Pope Benedict for that.
