One of these rare occasions where I decide to go out at night and "everything" goes wrong.

We have a music festival here this weekend. Stages are scattered around the city, with lots of newcomer bands playing, all for free during the day, with afterparties in the evening.

There's one starting at 23:00 (11 PM for you guys on the other planet). Thinking there will be a queue, I show up at 23:15. Mind you, it's a straight party and as always I'm going out alone. I pay for the entry.

For the next two hours, I am the only party visitor. ](*,)

The DJ is playing for an empty dancefloor. At least I got time to look busy and play around with my cell phone and find out one or two new functions by chance... around midnight, two or three couples show up, but they know the organizers or are even part of them. Around 02:00, we finally are about 20 people. In a room that can take about 600. We fill it to 1/3, but only because each of us has 2-3 meters free space around ourselves to dance.

The music and the DJs were good, but I know that I definitely will not go out to parties alone anymore. Except that one in September, which is an annual, established one and guaranteed to fill the dancefloor.

Ouch.

Although I tend to try not to even go out by myself...

i think it is a case of how much you want to get out. as i was coming out i had to go places by myself as my other gay friend weren't out enough. it can be boring but it also can be interesting

keep the faith

I have no problems with going out to dinner and a movie by myself, but if I'm going to a bar or club, I always make sure that at least one friend is with me. I've tried going to clubs and bars by myself, but it's just too damn depressing.

wow i wish there was stuff to do here i would go alone just to get out of the damn house!
