I'm curious...Did you see the performances/Flicks you're voting on or relying on "Star power" alone?

I have seen some, and with others I have relied on general reports, film reviews and performance at other awards events (e.g. critics awards, film festival awards...etc.) for others. There is no way to do a real comparison as I have not seen everything in contention - in fact, not everything in contention has been released in Australia - for example, The Artist and Hugo.

There is also no way to really objectively assess these things on merit. We all know it's one big glitzy popularity contest.

This is going to be an interesting Awards season because the "Best Actress" category is LOCKED with TItans....Queen Meryl Streep is gonna get her 16th or 17th Oscar nod soon and I will be shocked if they deny her a 3rd Oscar..

I like the fact that the majority of women she's been nominated with in the past were 1st-time Oscar winners. Even though Viola Davis will walk away with the Golden Globe I think the Academy is gonna be split when it's time to hand out Oscars...

I saw "The Help" and Viola's performance is indeed Oscar worthy. I'm gonna see Meryl's "Iron Lady" if it's released in my area over the Holidays......

I think Streep will be nominated, but I don't she will get a third. If Oscar's history is anything to go by, the last decade or so hhas seen Oscar go to first timers (with the exception of Hilary Swank who won twice).

Natalie Portman
Sandra Bullock
Kate Winslet
Marion Cotillard
Helen Mirren
Reese Witherspoon
Hilary Swank
Charlize Theron
Nicole Kidman
Halle Berry
Julia Roberts

I reckon this year it'll go to Michelle Williams. She's been nominated several times without a win. She's portraying a Hollywood legend. And her film will be pushed by The Weinstein Company marketing machine.

Pleased that 'The Skin I Live In' was nominated.

Looking forward to seeing The Seperation.

Live in HD on NBC

^ I'm surprised no American hasn't punched out his lights yet.
He has NO respect.

No, but I've only seen the highlights and your Mr Gervais has been very naughty indeed!

(Have you been naughty? and been burning your candle at both ends?)

Ricky Gervaise was "naughty" and he "cheapens" the event BIGTIME...Sorry but I don't consider 3hrs of insults as the BEST way of honoring Film.....I don't want him to return EVER....Make him the MC over at "Comedy Central Roasting".....I Loved Ricky's Tux..The color and the fit was on-point......

The Sag Awards will tell us the Real story...Very rare that a Sag winner does not take home the Oscar...
