It's been less than two years since Goldfrapp's last LP, the psych-folk Seventh Tree. But it's been more than four years since 2005's Supernature, the last Goldfrapp LP that could accurately be described as danceable.

So fans of the British duo's pop side can rejoice: Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory are set to release their fifth album, Head First, on March 22 in the UK and one day later in the U.S. via Mute.

According to an amusingly over-the-top post on Pop Justice, first single "Rocket"-- due March 8 in the UK and March 9 in the U.S.-- is "an Italo-esque disco record that isn't really an Italo-esque disco record and is just in fact a Goldfrapp record, albeit one which sounds a bit like Van Halen vs Laura Branigan." Promising.

As previously reported, Goldfrapp wrote the score to the film Nowhere Boy, which chronicles the young life of John Lennon. And the duo apparently worked on the forthcoming Christina Aguilera album, too.

Yay I love Goldfrapp! And Yes I can't wait for Christina's album as well. :)

Oooooooooooooooh. Seventh Tree was a good album if you took the time to get into it and took it as a follow up to Felt Mountain rather than Supernature. I'm intruiged.

The rise of mid-life lesbians

Late-flowering lesbians have never been so prevalent. What makes a woman jump the fence?

For many people, the thrill of the recent revelation that the writer Jeanette Winterson is dating Susie Orbach is that Orbach is not some bolshie 20-year-old with tats and piercings who is declaring she’s a dyke and running off to do queer performance art in Dalston.

This is about the nice lady in your street who puts out her recycling bins, gives dinner parties, reads the good newspapers and, one day, leaves her male partner of many years and runs off with someone the bad papers would describe as a “notorious lesbian”.

Orbach, 63, the psychologist and author of the classic Fat Is a Feminist Issue, is the latest in a new wave of late-flowering lesbians, who often leave their husbands after having children together.

Check out Mary Portas, 49, who divorced her husband of 13 years in the 1990s and now lives with her two children and her glamorous girlfriend, the Grazia fashion writer Melanie Rickey. Or the 43-year-old singer Alison Goldfrapp, famous for teasing audiences into a dark sexual frenzy, who recently embarked on a relationship with Lisa Gunning, the hip film editor who worked on Sam Taylor-Wood’s John Lennon movie, Nowhere Boy.

I just recently got turned on to Goldfrapp by a friend. I really love the remixes of "Ooh La La" I found on Amazon.

The new single has leaked. Its around online if you're interested. I have to say its not love at listen for me. I'll say no more in case it grows on me. :)

I'm going to look for it. I'd be interested in your opinion though.

I'm a huge fan of their first 4 albums(5 if you count "We Are Glitter" the remix companion to "Supernature") but this single just feels so cold, so 80's by the numbers, and not good 80's either! It feels like it could be playing during some scene in a forgettable 80's movie while the girls are getting ready for a dance or something.

I don't feel any warmth or atmosphere here compared their previous work. I will give the new album a chance though and eagerly await its release.

anyone else think "Rocket" sounds a lot like Ladyhawke's "Magic"?

I mean I love it...it just sounds a lot more like Ladyhawke then it does Goldfrapp
