Gilbert Gottfried died 12 April 2022, age 67, medical complications compounded by his irregular heartbeat.

I wanted to share a clip of Gilbert as one of my favorite characters, "Mr. Mxyzptlk", the trouble making imp from the 5th dimension.

He did have a great voice for animation.

I laughed my butt off with him roasting Roseanne as Rozzilla. He said she had cow like hooves and omitted a strong odor of taco grease and ass cheese. :lol:
 
as one comic said he was king of the "too soon" joke----got him in a lot of trouble----spoke to him on the street in NYC --he was nothing like his character doing his comedy. Was very sweet and humble. RIP
 
One of the great things about Gilbert Gottfried is he would be willing to do almost anything on any show - just as long as it was funny.

Offensive? Sure - but it was funny!

I don't know much of anything about him as what little I've seen of him, he seemed obnoxious and easily ignored.

I suppose voice overs for animations was a good fit and an easier way to keep him under control. LOL

He followed a distinct tradition of amplifying the quintessential Jewish New York brash accent as lampoon. It was no doubt done in an anti-semitic manner in times past, like in Vaudeville, but right up through films to the present day.

Harvey Fierstein does a modified version of it in all his work, most notably in Independence Day, with the added trope of flaming gay as added schtick,

I never like Gottfried's act, but admire any comedian who can find a way to break free of the pack and make big money in their highly competitive business in the mass media age. Kudos to the late great. May he rest in peace.
