Google home page does not acknowledge CHRISTMAS

Google is a secular international website.

It's calling for the celebration of Christmas -- which is not celebrated world-wide -- should not be expected.

They can make different things appear to different regions and have done so before.

Who gives a flying fuck?

Honestly, I lol at people who have somehow made "Happy Holidays" an offensive phrase. Get over yourselves.

It has more to do with why it was changed rather than the actual words.

Not so long ago most just said Merry Christmas.

It bothered some people who follow other religions, especially Jews and Christians, so more and more replaced Merry Christmas with Happy Holidays.

You think any Muslim country would do that to avoid offending Christians?

No, I don't.

And JUB has smashing glass instead of the baby Jesus.

I guess we'll be shooting rabbits instead of celebrating Jesus' rebirth at Easter time. :)

If you click on it you get a search result for "Happy Holidays" and when you mouse over the graphic you get : "Happy Holidays from Google" [-X

What a bunch of cunts!

25/12 is Christmas according to the calendar .....

I'm no expert and am curious: are there any Muslim countries that have Christians living peacefully in them?

I don't really think Islam has reached the point in its development where popular culture will adopt a religious holiday and turn it secular. Four hundred years ago, you'd never see a Christian nation secularizing a holy day; but now it's done all the time (though I notice it more in the US than anywhere else), and there's not really any such thing as a "Christian nation." Almost all Western countries have secular governments.

One thing I always think about when speaking of Islam is that it's four hundred years younger than Christianity; if you look at Christianity in the seventeenth century, it looks a lot more like Islam does today.

The term Christian nations is still used for countries where majority of the population is Christian.

And yes there are parts of the world where Muslims and Christians live together in peace. In fact the middle east has more churches than the west has mosques.

They got a long fine in Iraq before the war... of course that has changed now.

I'd be interested in hearing our Malaysian and Indonesian members' opinions on how peacefully the communities interact.

Bangladesh, too, has a notable Christian minority.

In parts of India, communities of Christians and Muslims live nearby one another such that the Christians form the minority; there is strife, but there is more often peace.
