GOP Lacks Any Credible Presidential Candidate for 2008

Chance, Chance, Chance!

(*8*)

If I want Rudy to do to middle America what he did to Times Square (turn it into a theme park), then I'll vote for the guy!

:rotflmao:

The only thing that Rudy has on Ray Nagin; Mayor of New Orleans, is that Rudy had enough sense to actually think before he spoke.

Beyond that, Rudy couldn't get elected President of the United States with everything that Karl Rove has in his magic bag of tricks!

I get down on my knees at night and pray that Rudy and Hillary see the truth in the mirror before they go to bed at night.

Hillary Clinton looks into the mirror and sees Rudy Giuliani, and Rudy Giuliani looks into the mirror and sees Hillary Clinton.

Might be good for New Yawk, but certainly NOT for the Nation.

Oh....you have to be a really unintelligent, unthinking, apologist against those who General_Alfie despises to get him to "block" you.

That are be so completely right in your facts and convictions!

I honestly think that....secretly...he lives for such interaction. ;)

That or he just forgets to eat something every now and again, and his blood sugar goes threw the floor. :p

I'm just speculating of course. ;)

General_Alfie! I LOVE YOU MAN! (*8*)

He hasn't blocked me yet, and if he has I would not have known it, or given a rat's ass if he did. ..| We can still debate the issues without taking things too personal. Though I think he forgets who he's talking too from time to time.

Oooh! Wouldn't it be something if he reported us for personal attacks?

I'm kidding! I'm kidding! :D

Just having a rowe! (!)

Centex - I really like disagreeing with you - why is that?

A couple of thoughts & questions

1 - Times Square is awesome. I work there every day. Not sure why you're disparaging it. Do you know what TS was like pre-Rudy? TS is an example of Rudy's success.

2 - I've lived in NY all my life. I've travelled to many other cities. The positive change that Rudy brought is undeniable. And managing NY is tougher than being Governor of most states IMO, the latter seeming to be a qualification for Pres.

3 - Rudy and Ray Nagin? Rudy took a city on the edge and helped bring it to its rightful place - greatness. Rudy was the NYC and National leader after 911 - some people step up and that's how you find out what they're made of. Ray Nagin blamed others for Katrina while hiding out at the hotel. Terrible comparison.

4 - Right now, Rudy is candidate # 1 for the Repubs - polling says he's the man. I agree - longtime to go - lot can happen. Don't dismiss him.

I could go on but I like you too much centex - at least I know you won't block me

Well I'm a native New Yorker and Rudy gives me the creeps. The man is the Leona Helmsley of politics (the law only applies to the "little people"). If Rudy is elected be afraid, very afraid for your civil liberties.

Attactive he's not - creepy? like Addams Family creepy? perhaps

He just gets it done

Don't need an attractive man in the White House do we?

Civil liberties? what did Rudy do as mayor that has you concerned about your rights?

Yes, I was stationed in the U.S. Coast Guard on Governor's Island for awhile back in the mid eighties. I use to grab a slice and admire the Twin Towers while I "people watched." That was my neighborhood, as soon as I got off the ferry!

I know all too well what NYC looked like before Rudy.

I've been back to the Big Apple several times since then, and though I'm a fifth generation Native Texan, New York, New York is the CENTER OF THE KNOWN UNIVERSE as far as I'm concerned! I'm fond of the surrounding boroughs as well!

I'll admit that he put the polish back in the Apple that is NYC, and I admire the face that he put out there as he represented the peoples of New York City during, and after the events of 9/11.

I'm not disparaging Times Square, just that compared to what it was back in the 80's it's a theme park! It's okay you can admit it! ;) I bet you can't buy a nickle bag of weed and gold watch at 7th and Broadway can you? That's freedom baby!

I can see where in your Nue Yawker supremecy that you would compare running a city to running a state, or a federal beauacracy, but I don't.

I've heard it said that NYC is at least 10 years ahead of the rest of the nation in so many areas. I hope that's true, because even though NYC is diverse in it's population, it's also indicative of the many communities that make up the fabric of this country outside of Big Apple.

I met Rudy a couple of years ago while he gave a speach at SMU in Dallas.

He's a nice guy, likeable even.

I just don't see him as Presidential material because he's shown himself to be nothing more than a hack for the Republican Party. He's nothing outside of New York that he presented himself to be during the days surrounding 9/11.

My observation.

I agree with your assertations about Ray Nagin. New Orleans is/was one of my favorite cities in this great country of ours. But, he apparently is appealing to a different demographic, and it's working. He got reelected, AND I don't recal anyone even whispering about future political prospects. Just making a comparison about adversity. Some shine, some don't they're still what they are at their core.

I like disagreeing with you too! :D Wanna go steady?

The question with Rudy is can a northeastern pro-gay rights anti abortion pol win the republican nomination?

My understanding from the last two presidental elections is that the republicans won because their religious "base" turned out. That being the case why would republicans nominate a candidate that base probably won't support.

I'd bet heavy against him getting the nomination.

Living in Massachsutts I've seen Mitt up close and can't think of a single reason to vote for him. He's done nothing as governor except for a universal health insurance plan which you'll love if having the state tell you how you'll spend your money is your thing.

I was thinking creepy as in control freak rather than fugly. Although that too. LOL

I found his attitude toward dissent scary. Everything is my way or the highway with him.

If you work around Time Square you're just a couple of blocks away from me.

I work by Bryant Park. When I was in high school you couldn't go in there because of the drug dealers. Now I can stand on line there for 15 minutes so that I can buy a $12 sandwich at Craftwich. Progress though not as impressive as Grand Central where they replaced the benches for the homeless with a Caviarteria for a while.

It's good to see two native New Yorkers of opposing political views being friendly with each other. Maybe you will rub off on a transplant like alfie.

He does like it his way - success does that to you - you can do no wrong. I actually met him at a Veteran's Day parade early in his tenure - when he wore suits off the rack - he had terrible posture and looked like the Al Pacino character in Dick Tracy. He's now a rich man but I think he can still lead. And on his watch the city transformed from David Dinkins hell to well what I consider the greatest city in the world - not easy - just my opinion.

I don't buy the sandwich at Craftwich - I grab one at Europa or a slice and sit or stand in Bryant Park. Saves me a few bucks and the line. We should meet up while the weather is still good - Sept/Oct will do.
