Well, it looks like he fucked up his chances for a 2016 nomination. Which I find quite satisfying. It couldn't happen to a better fuckup.

GOP senators attack Ted Cruz
“It’s pretty evident it’s never been about a strategy – it’s been about him."
By Elias Isquith

He may have Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck on his side, but as the government shutdown he largely caused drags on, Ted Cruz is finding himself increasingly unpopular among his Republican colleagues in the Senate.

I'm not a progressive but definitely glad to see Ted Cruz hoisted on his own petard. Even legitimate conservatives believe in the need for responsible government. Whatever the problems with the Affordable Healthcare Act (aka "Obamacare"), and there are many.... there is no way the Republican right on its own can or should move at all to promote this "defunding" stunt that has led to this completely irresponsible shutdown of all federal services. As Ted Cruz' blatant self promotion(and like his fellow GOP critics have accused him, it's ALL about promoting himself for President) appears to be blowing up in his face, his sudden emergence as persona non grata to more responsible Republicans and apparent destruction of his national viability as a serious "conservative" GOP presidential contender are the only good things to be coming out of this travesty.

^ Exactly. Enough is enough. This cabal has derailed the orderly governance of the nation to long already.

Does this guy really think he can run for President? Would the American public really vote for someone who looks like Igor?

I am registered as a Democrat but have always voted for Susan Collins, a Republican, and the only republican in Maine's delegation to Congress; she has always manifested an independent streak - and is doing so now.

However, she is up for reelection in 2014. I have phoned her Washington office and advised my support was in jeopardy unless Speaker Boehner allowed a House vote.

Only when these people see cross-detriment will they get involved.

I love Luke Russert. A week or so ago he was being interviewed by MSNBC and he said that Cruz was the GOPs Richard Simmons.

Yes, he really thinks he can run for president. Because he lives in his radical right wing-nut bubble and refuses to see anything he doesn't like. Because of this he thinks that "America" is full of crazy 'baggers just waiting for him to come save them.

Messiah Complex - the man thinks he's Jesus. I'm not kidding.

Someone needs to crucify him. Can I be Pilate?

Funny how Freshmen senator wields so much power. In past the would be at bottom of the food chain.

The best possible outcome will be yet again a fractured and weak looking republican party with Ted Cruz's head on a spike.

he'll get the presidential nomination---why wouldn't he? he's got a borderline personality lives in a bubble, has an overblown ego and thinks he is the messiah ---and is clearly mentally unstable. He is the perfect modern republican.:p

It's easy to see this character has a huge ego. He's in it for himself, not for the party or the country. The sooner we're rid of him the better.

Now the commenting Senators need to put real pressure on the 35 House Republican arsonists.

Actually that may be the only route they have for salvaging anything out of this: if some Republicans reign in the freaks, they can claim that the problem isn't with the party but with just an undisciplined, immature element.

It would work better if I got to be Pilate... and you get to be the centurion with the hammer and nails....
