GOP sends image of Obama w/bullet in forehead- Sec service investigates

The extreme hatred for the President is disturbing. It was never like this before.

The republicans have created an air of hatred and suspicion towards this President and they need to be held accountable.

You can thank (blame) people like Newt Gingrich, Mitch McConnell, Rush Limbaugh and the pundits at Fox News for this vitriolic state we're in.

^ This.

And if this were Bush or even Boner in the pic, the conservatives would be exploding with rage about how incendiary the image is and that it is an incitement to violence.

Sigh.

Loki, this goes back before Bush. Look at what Gingrich did to Clinton.

I've heard many people say this vitirol start with Gingrich and his attacking President Clinton. Kenneth Starr trying to dig up something, anything on the President. Wasting taxpayer dollars on all kinds of shit. Remember the Clinton Chronicles, from that lying windbag Jerry Falwell who's burning in Hell right now?

Karl Rove can be blamed for a lot of this also.

And the real bad thing about this is it's only going to get worse. But President Obama is getting a lot of hate and doesn't deserve it. No matter what anyone says, a lot of it is because of his race and from the republicans being sore losers.

The voter suppression going on now by republicans are a big concern for me. They're masking the real reason by saying it's because of voter fraud but we all know that's a lie. If you can't get someone to vote for you, then make sure they can't vote.

you may notice that the participants are not english speaking. These are rallies held in europe for the most part.

see those signs? not english?

interestingly, I did a search using software that seeks out sites that use the image, and there are 27 sites out there who carry it, its linked into google images, and all the sites are conservative sites.

I could go on. My point is where is the original source that the stuff came from? did you check before you threw that stuff up there?

What is the provenance of the rest of the images?

any ideas?

DO those people LOOK like state party leaders to YOU?

Of course not.
See thats the difference here and thats why you get your but dumped in with the looney left all the time. You enjoy their vices ever so much.

What language is "Worst President Ever"? Looks an awful lot like English, no? The woman holding the sign is kinda fat. She very well could be an American.

now what I know is that those pictures loki posted are smeared across every dirty little corner the GOP plays in on the internet, but as for the origins?

Buehller?

Buehller?

I'm not disagreeing with you. from its foundations, our Republican has never been particularly noted for its civility in politics.

I question the extent to which this is new versus simply newly nationalized.

30 years ago, some no-name, state-level Republican grunt showing an offensive picture to a couple of his cronies about Carter probably wouldn't have made the national news the same night.

it's for sure offensive and tasteless... but does it really matter? is someone sitting at home right now thinking "gee, I was really close to voting for those guys, but they showed a picture of Zombie Obama. I'm going to vote Democratic for the rest of my life now."

no one in their right mind would view this as encouraging violence against the President.

I wonder how much attention this is going to get versus the collapse of Greece, troop buildups in the Middle East, and our corporate overlords robbing us blind while we're distracted by these non-issues.

its relevance is national and we have pressing problems here... of the systemic variety, institutionalised within a party that controls a chamber of the congress.

I will agree that the signs are entirely red meat for their own cause. They are not meant to change minds, they are meant to encourage like minded people. The trouble is that there are people out there who are like minded but are also NUTS. loco. Their brain has shit the bed, and when they see this?

the outcome is never predictable.

we are not talking about challenging civil thinking people here. These images are meant to inspire uncivilized posibly violent behavior.

You show me one image created by the democratic party of some state that compares to what we are seeing here, and you MAY change my mind.

the images I posted don't look photoshopped to me.

I pulled them from google images, which I assume all the other sites did as well.

this link suggests that they're from various anti-war rallies, but I have limited life energy to devote towards trying to track down the root source of various internet images that I have little reason to disbelieve.

so you would just post them and make assumptions without knowing their intent.

Because thats easier.

I constantly have to be on guard professionally concerning plaigarism and digital image provenance.

now once again...

what does this have to do with a political party producing these images? What images has the democratic party produced of that variety? of any state party if not national?

can you find any? yet we see these things coming from within the GOP on an almost monthly basis.

If it came off the internet. It's a well-known fact that if that is the case, it HAS to be true. :rotflmao:
If one were to practice pretend-journalism, one would 1.) check his sources. 2.) check his sources again. Remember the pic of the demonstration supposedly in Madison, Wisconsin had palm trees in the background?

Pierre Salinger (JFK's press secretary) was snookered into believing that the TWA 747 over Long Island was brought down by a surface-to-air missile...NOT. "Limited life energy" is no excuse. If you're not sure, please don't bother posting - nothing personal. ;)

And it's not only how republicans have spread hate towards the President, all the hate speech towards Muslims, immigrants, homosexuals and all the other groups they've instructed their followers to fear and hate.

Oh, can't forget Welfare mothers during the Reagan administration.

Nothing unites a group of people more than hatred and animosity towards another group of people. Republicans are masters of this tactic.

Your insistence that you are not responsible for what you post is really amusing, and what ails america right now. You did not research and then come back with an idea, you shopped around for an image that looked like it validated your position.

entirely different, wouldn't you say?

now I want to say this again and clearly and directly....

a single civilian expressing their first amendment rights may be disturbing at times, but must be tolerated. Call it out for what it is, but never erase the right to say it.

you are not getting the difference between party leaders and official party images.

This picture came from the GOP. When in the last two decades has the democratic party done that?

Oh, can't forget Welfare mothers during the Reagan administration.

This is the gambit that St. Ronald used all the time... the welfare mother with ten kids driving a Cadillac. Anecdotal? Of course. But he was such a sweet old guy, who couldn't believe it had been true. I for one.

they don't look photoshopped, which is generally good enough for me. these images are likely 6-10 years old and I have limited hours in the day to play "pretend journalist," so if that makes them instantly fake, so be it.

if you want to argue that they're irrelevant because a no name protestor is different than a no-name politico, I can't contest that. I only brought them into the discussion to highlight the animosity of politics at large.
Please try to re-read my post. Then Google: validity... and reliability.

The ADA (American Dental Association) has a standard rule than when making a presentation at an ADA meeting, one is forbidden from submitting digitized images - only color slide originals are allowed. Therefore, the presenter cannot be accused of "doctoring" an image to report a finding. Then, you may then want to Google: honesty... and integrity, something most present-day Republicans do not have.

I've always suspected that loki81 and Jack Springer had problems, now I know for sure.
BostonPirate thanks for the link to O'Donnels video, now I know why I missed it. I was asleep that late at nite.

Thanks. I'm sure I'll sleep better tonight with your analysis.

PS: Don't forget to pick up more tinfoil tomorrow. That hat keeps getting bigger and bigger -- or maybe you're making a suit.

George-Bush-Wanted-Poster--66812.jpg

The images prior to 2008 and the staements by members on this very board were similar irt George W Bush.

Hypocrite much?

Let me call you a wahhhhhhhmmbulance!!!!!!!!!!!!

Both depictions are despicable and worthless IMHO.

It is amusing to watch people flip and flop depending on who is in office though. Shows the true character.

was it the democratic party that made those images?

why will no republican here answer that simple question?

because they can't own the truth of it.

Perhaps you should PM a republican. I mean your the one into the labels.

BTW the democratic party doesn't have the courage of its convictions as demonstrated over and over so why would they say something so controversial....

I didn't see them bothering to denounce such things in 2008. Is silence approval? In our 24/7 news world it sure the fuck is.

Perhaps you should PM a republican. I mean your the one into the labels.

oh yeah?

care to tell us exactly what people said in 2008 have to do with the people here now who are saying this?

look, you can say what you want but the GOP made this, and it is not the first time stuff like this has happened.

when has a democratic party of any local area, state, or national chapter... when have they ever done this?

How does one equate with the other?
