Got a hankerin' for apple crisp

If I still have the hankerin' tomorrow, I'm heading to the grocery store to buy some apples so I can make me some.

Haven't made it in years, though. I hope I remember the recipe.

Carrow's has an apple-cranberry crisp on the menu right now that is so fucking good I almost swallowed it whole (but I was supposedly sharing with Grandmother, so I had to make a pretense of only eating from my side of the bowl).

Yeah, the cranberries are definitely healthier than the ice cream. Except I freakin hate cranberries

For those who are wondering, this is Apple Crisp which, as mentioned, is made with oats and flower:

I wondered what I was going to make for dessert today - think I'll go with the crisp over the Brown Betty.

As to why it is called Brown Betty:

According to The Oxford Companion To Food, by Alan Davison:​

The name seems to have first appeared in print in 1864, when an article in the Yale Literary Magazine listed it (in quotation marks, implying that it was not then a fully established term) with tea, coffee, and pies as things to be given up during 'training'. That author gave brown in lower case and Betty in upper case: and, in default of evidence to the contrary, it seems best to go along with the view that Betty is here a proper name.​

Perhaps, but judging by your avatar, I'd guess you'd still prefer it with nuts.

I think in England we forego the oats and just use butter sugar and flour and call it an Apple Crumble.

Otherwise, there is Apple Charlotte which uses bread crumbs instead of flour...
