Gradual sunless tan

With so many self tanning products out there, which is the best?

I would prefer a gradual tan. I'm not one to be tan overnight.

And I don't want a deep dark tan just a "healthy" look.

What product do yall recommend?

The spray-on or airbrush tanning products are all the rage right now...even here in Florida. No more gels or cremes that give you that "orangy" look or streaking or missed spots. It looks perfectly natural and looks exactly like you were sunning on the beach for awhile. While you can buy numerous products and do it yourself, I tried a session at one of the tanning salons that are springing up all over the place. $40 for a treatment. Lasts about a month. The beauty of it is that you can have them do any degree of tanning that you wish, from a light "healthy" look to a deep tan that looks like you spent a lot of time at the beach. I tried the light treatment and didn't want to do it myself so went to a salon. Products are numerous and you can check out prices and other info on line. Go to any search engine and type in "airbrush tanning".

Went to the Tanning Salon for a spray tan once, charged $26. Too much for a week of tan, and the smell of the solution was gross. I am using Neutrogena Build-a-Tan, it works well and the pump cream costs $10.....keeps a nice natural tone at your own pace. I use once a week.

I notice you are more on the fare side, so I would start slowly to monitor the color progress (and to avoid any unnatural color ).

Hints: Wash hands completely when done applying, avoid ankles, elbows, soles of feet unless you want orange skin there. All of these have a slight odor some find strong, its bearable for me, and nothing like the salon spray, hope you have a friend to help with your back area...(i would if i were there, btw )

I also noted some moisturizers are out there now with the "glow/tanning" label. Any recommends on brands that others of you like, please post!

A year or more ago I saw an article in People Magazine about Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer. I was a fave of celebrities and the stores couldn't keep it in stock.
I was very pale due to hospitalization and tried it and was totally satisfied.
There was no orangey hue or pronounced smell. It just added a little natural color and helped moisturize (pretty much needed here in the Arizona desert anyway).
I tried the spray booths and was disappointed. All those products wear off with showering etc and time. They tell you to pat dry after a shower, but I always need to scrub dry or it doesn't feel right.
At least with the Jergens product you can reapply when you feel it is needed.

Yea, that's why I want a gradual tan. I think being fair one day and bronze the next would look unnatural.

I use Neutrogena skin products so I should try the build a tan.

My skin doesn't produce a deep, copper tan, unlike the guy in my avatar, so I'm looking for something that produces a more natural-looking tan, which in my case means kind of a red-beige, slightly sunburned look. I wish they produced sunless tanners that give you that color. Most seem to have an orange or unnaturally brown look.

Neutrogena is crap. Stay away from their self tanners! I've heard that Nivea is supposed to be pretty god, but I've never used it. Here's what I do: Find a good tanning salon that carries the lotion line Supre. See if they have in stock Supre's Hempz Moisturizer with Bronzer and shimmer. This is what I use, and with in a week, you get a great tan that looks like you've been outside. And its very natural looking, not too light, not too deep.

I've had good luck with Jergen's Natural Glow. I have light skin, and started with the one for "light" skin but found it didn't do much of anything, so I moved up to medium and it's much better.

Pros: gradual tan, so if you miss a spot it doesn't show like it would with a traditional self-tanner, it's not streaky either

Cons: it shimmers and the smell is not bad, but not great. Reminds me of sunscreen, so I wear it at night

Ugh. The Jergens Natural Glow was terrible! It smelled cheap(and kinda gross too) and didn't do anything for me.

try the body shop sunless tanning stuff or the biotherm men stuff. the latter's face bronzer is wicked !

Go to Walmart, there are many choices you can chose from and it is usually located with the lotion's aisle.

A better solution, even though not sunless, is to simply go outside under the sun. Still use sunblock but like SPF15. You don't have to lay there tanning yourself, just spend time on a sunny day at the beach enjoying a barbecue or a sport of some sort. You can gradually build your tan that way.
