At your high school graduation, once you'd gotten through all the formal stuff and things are about to wrap up, what song was it they played as your graduation song?

Back when I graduated our song was the theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey (Also Sprach Zarathustra) since we were, well, the graduating class of 2001.

Here's my high school graduation song from 2007. It was "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield.

[EDIT: Tried to post a link to the YouTube video, like the posters above, but I'm too new! Haha. Oh well. I think most people in the English speaking world have heard "Unwritten." ^_~]

At my high school, each senior class voted on their "class song."

This did not reflect what was popular music of that time, but had sentimental lyrics or meaning to the class.

During my three of my four high school years, here were the choices of each senior class...

1978....can't remember what they picked

1979...Theme from "Mahogany" (Do You Know Where You're Going to?)

1980..."Times of Your Life" (aka The Kodak Commercial song)

and my class, 1981, "The Long and Winding Road" (one of our class officers was Beatles obsessed, and I suspect that his popularity influenced people)

Prom themes, and "graduation songs" have long since left my head -- if I ever rememberd them, they are gone now -- i remember the events - I remember sitting on the front steps of the school crying because I didn't want to leave there.

But I have no memory of "a song" - I guess, over time, it got replaced with some other random, but more current information. Now i'm sad I don't remember - thanks a lot.
