Ok guys.
This is it. The final chapter of Cameron and Josh's story. I want to take this moment and give everyone my thanks for all the wonderful comments they've made over the past year and for all the support everyone has given me. It was my pleasure to bring this story to you all and I hope you had as much fun reading it as I had writing it.
------------------------
“Keep your eyes closed,” Cameron said as we stepped out of the car.
I could smell the ocean and hear the seagulls as I kept my eyes shut tightly. I felt Cameron come up behind me and put his hands over my eyes. We moved forward together slowly. I could feel rocks crunching together under my feet and my heart pounded in my chest.
“Cam, enough already,” I said, “Just let me see.”
“Hang on, we’re almost there,” he said.
I could almost hear the smile on his face in his voice. I felt one of his hands move off of my face and then he quickly put it back on. As we took a few more steps forward, I felt my feet hit the smooth surface of hardwood floors and knew we had stepped inside somewhere. I was so anxious to see where we were.
“Okay, you can open your eyes,” he said.
I opened them and looked outside a wall-sized window and saw the ocean about 70 feet below us. I was standing in a beautiful house on top of a cliff that overlooked the beach. The sands were almost a pure white from the sunlight and the ocean was bright and sparkling. I gasped as I took in the sight and shivered when Cameron wrapped his arms around me from behind.
“It’s so beautiful,” I said.
“Just like you,” he said.
“Where are we?” I asked.
“Maine,” he said, “This was my family’s vacation spot a long time ago.”
“It’s so…”
“Amazing?” he asked.
“Free,” I said.
I turned around and looked into his eyes. As I gazed into my husband’s bright green eyes, I felt like everything I was ever afraid of was lifted off of my shoulders. I leaned in and kissed him and felt the world fall away from us again. This time, nothing could break us out of our world. We were alone, we were together, and we were free.
“Wanna go see the beach?” he asked.
“Are you kidding?” I asked, “Of course I do.”
“Meet you down there,” he said.
He kissed me on the forehead and went down the hallway. I took a moment to look around the house. It was amazing. It was like one of those big expensive houses that you would see in the outskirts of most rural towns. I felt so at peace within its walls that I didn’t want to go outside.
“You know, I can’t meet you down there if you leave first,” Cameron said from the back of the house.
I blushed and walked out of the house with a smirk on my face. I saw a little path with a sign labeled “Beach” in front of it and followed it. The trees that lined the path were like a shelter of protection. The trees begin to thin out as I reached the end of the path and the sunlight broke through them as I stepped into the sand.
The breeze caught up and tossed my hair around. It stung my eyes a little so I looked towards the ground and saw one baby blue eyes wildflower on the ground. I reached down and picked it as a smile crept across my face.
“I can’t believe someone so amazing married a slob like me,” a voice from the trees said.
I spun around and saw Cameron standing in the shade of the trees. He had changed into a pair of dark blue boxer shorts. I laughed a little when I saw them.
“It was easy,” I said, “You’re really hot.”
“So are you,” he said.
He stepped forward and put his hands on my hips. I threw my arms around his neck and pulled him in to kiss him. Our tongues danced together as the beach and the ocean fuzzed out of focus. The only sound I could hear was Cameron’s soft moan. He lifted off my shirt and we fell back into the sand.
Cameron leaned in on top of me and trailed kisses up my stomach and chest up to my mouth. I lifted my hands and ran them through his hair as I pulled his face into mine. My hands went from his hair, down his back, and stopped at his hips. He rested his ass onto my crotch and clamped his knees around my waist as he sat there looking at me.
I reached my left hand up and brushed away the strands of hair that were going over his eyes. He smiled at me and put his right hand on my cheek. His thumb rubbed my face softly. I noticed that tears were forming in his eyes.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
“Nothing,” he said, “I just still can’t believe this is real.”
“Well believe it,” I said.
“Josh…when I think of all the time I spent wanting you and wishing you would fall for me and the time I wasted by not telling you sooner…”
“Don’t worry about it Cam. I don’t. I did the same thing and I know that we should just be thankful for the time we have together now, and hope that it never ends.”
“But Josh…”
“No. We’re together now and that’s all that matters. No one can break us apart now,” I said.
“How did I get so lucky?” he said.
“It wasn’t luck. We were meant to be together Cam,” I said, “Otherwise we wouldn’t have made it through the past 8 years.”
“You’re right,” he said, “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. Don’t ever be sorry,” I said.
“Why?” he asked.
“Love means never having to apologize,” I said.
“You really need to lay off the romance movies,” he said.
He started laughing as I slapped his shoulder. He fell over on top of me still laughing, and I couldn’t help but join him. The two of us just lay there laughing with each other. It was like we were kids again. When the laughter died down, I looked back into his eyes. They were still full of regret and pain.
I leaned in and kissed his cheek softly.
“Cam, please stop worrying. We’re okay now,” I said.
“Ok, I promise,” he said.
“That’s better,” I said, “You up for a swim?”
“You bet,” he said.
I stood up and took off my pants and let them drop to the ground. I stood there in my black boxer briefs that were a part of the outfit that Brooke set up for me after the wedding. She always told me that nothing said “Sex” like a pair of black underwear. Cameron slapped my ass lightly and ran off into the water. I chased him down the beach and jumped into the ocean after him.
I felt something grab me when I got further into the water and my underwear was pulled off. I looked around frantically and saw Cameron about 4 feet away from me holding my underwear up and grinning at me. I swam towards him and grabbed a firm hold. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed me.
“Why don’t we take this back to the house?” he asked.
“Are you trying to seduce me?” I asked.
“Always,” he whispered.
We got out of the water and I ran naked to the path lined with trees. Cameron was just a few steps behind me. We got into the house and he pulled a couple of towels out of the hallway closet. He tossed me one and we dried off. Once I was totally dry, I looked up and saw him standing there and staring at me.
He moved forward and wrapped his arms around me. The warmth in his body passed into me as he kissed me softly. He whispered into my ear and started walking down the hallway.
I followed closely behind him into one of the rooms at the end of the hall and gasped in awe of the bedroom. It was gorgeous. It overlooked the beach and had a wall of windows just like the living room. There was a huge skylight in the roof that the bed was placed under. This place felt so open, yet so safe. It was exactly how I felt the first time Cameron and I kissed.
He sat on the bed with a grin on his face. I moved in closer to him and he grabbed me at the waist and pulled me into his lap. I leaned in to kiss him and he leaned back onto the bed, pulling me on top of him. I placed my lips onto his and closed my eyes as our breathing increased in speed and our hearts began racing.
He put his hands onto my which were placed palm-down at his sides. His hand grazed over my ring. He pulled away from our kiss and smiled as he rubbed at my ring finger with his thumb. I smiled back at him as I moved my other hand on top of his.
“I still can’t believe this is all real Josh,” he said.
“Believe it baby,” I said, “I’m your husband now.”
“God that is such a turn on,” he said, “Say it again.”
I leaned in and whispered into his ear, “You’re my husband Cameron Davis. All mine, forever.”
“Oh my God…” he said.
I felt him grind his crotch into my ass and I grinned at him. His cock was hard as a rock in his underwear. I climbed off of him and stood by the edge of the bed. He sat up and looked at me questioningly. I just put a finger to his lips and gently pushed him back. When he was on his back, I slid his boxer-briefs off and ran my hand up his thigh.
He let out a gasp as my hand grazed his thigh. I smiled and lay down next to him on the bed. I pulled him on top of me and moved my hands down his back to grab his ass. He gave me his sexy little grin and kissed my neck. I felt his hands go under my knees and push my legs apart.
I felt his cock slide into my hole as he kissed at my nipples. He shoved into me and forced a moan out of me so hard that my voice cracked. He laughed at me so I squeezed my ass around his cock which made him take in a big gasp of pleasure. I put my hand on the back of his head and pulled him in to kiss me as his thrusts went deeper and deeper.
Our breathing became rhythmic and synchronized as I held him closer to me. Our bodies were pressed up against each other as he slid in and out. He was fucking me so hard that I had a massive orgasm and came all over our stomachs. I felt him nearing his climax shortly after mine and I wrapped my legs around his ass and pulled him harder into me. His cock exploded inside me and I felt his cum fill me up.
We lay like that for a while as we got entangled into staring contest. His bright green eyes stared into my deep blue eyes and didn’t leave my gaze. It was as if we had made our final connection with each other. We had the emotional connection, the sexual connection, and even the connection of our longtime friendship. But at that moment, we made a mental connection that we never had before. Since that day, our minds have felt linked together. I always knew when he was thinking about me, because I was always thinking about him at the same time. It sounds like pure crap, but I believe in it.
It was also at that moment that I realized that over the years Cameron has been a lot of things to me. He’s been my greatest friend, my most passionate lover, and my most loving fiancée. And now, he was my husband. No more words needed to be said about him. I stared into his eyes, and I felt safe. I felt like everything was finally coming to an end, but at the same time it was just beginning.
----------------------------------
The sands of the beach glistened in the moonlight as I sat on a rock that stuck out from the ground. We had been here for a few nights already and I was absolutely in love with this place. It was so secluded from the rest of the world, yet there was a feeling of freedom everywhere I went. Even the house felt so open with all the windows and the overlook of the beach.
I looked over my shoulder when I heard footsteps and saw Cameron walking over to me. He was wearing nothing but a light jacket that was unzipped to expose his bare chest and a pair of white board shorts that were so tight around his ass that it looked so unbelievably sexy.
He walked up and placed his hands on the sides of my face and pulled me into a deep kiss that made me melt in his hands. When he released me I had to catch my breath and stop the earth from spinning under my feet. He smiled at me and sat down on the rock next to me and held onto my hand.
“I love this place Cam,” I said.
“More than you love me?” he asked with a grin on his face.
I kissed him softly and smiled at him.
“Mmm, so that’s a yes?” he asked.
I rolled my eyes at him and lightly slapped his leg.
“You know Cam, after everything we’ve been through, I almost forgot that we were best friends before,” I said.
“I know what you mean. I was so afraid of losing our friendship back then, I never actually thought about what I might be gaining,” he said.
“And what exactly did you gain?” I asked as got up and sat between his legs and leaned up against his chest.
“Well, not only did I keep my best friend, but I gained someone that I could give my heart to and receive their heart back. I gained someone who would be willing to die for me. And I gained someone that is so important to me, someone I love so much, that I would do anything to make them happy.”
I took in a deep breath when he said that. After all this time, I was worried that we had lost sight of our friendship in the twists and turns of our relationship, but I was relieved to know that Cameron never let go of it.
“Hey, I know we’ve promised each other that we’ll be together forever like, a billion times,” I said, “But can you promise me something else?”
“Sure Josh, what is it?” he asked.
“Promise me that no matter what, we’ll always be best friends on top of everything else,” I said.
“Josh?” he asked.
“What?”
“I made that promise to myself the very first time you kissed me,” he said.
“Really?” I asked astonished.
“Of course,” he said, “I would never have risked our friendship by kissing you in the first place if I didn’t promise myself that I would never forget it no matter what your response was.”
“Cam, you have no idea how much that means to me,” I said.
“It means just as much to me Josh. Maybe more,” he said.
We spent a few moments in silence after that. The moon started to disappear behind the clouds and the wind began to pick up. I shivered a little bit and Cameron pulled out a flashlight from his jacket pocket. He took my hand and guided me up the path back to the house. As we were walking, I thought about how happy I was that I never even stood a chance to lose Cameron. Our connection was air tight and even since the beginning, nothing could break us apart.
I smiled at him when we walked into the house and he pulled me into him to kiss me. He stopped just short of reaching my lips and pulled away. He held onto my hand and led me down the hallway to the bedroom. He pushed the door open and looked sharply into my eyes. We both smiled as we stumbled into the room and closed the door.
----------------------------------
On our last day in the house, I had just woken up from Cameron fucking me into a coma. His slow breathing told me that he was still asleep. I just lay there with Cam in my arms, playing with my ring with my thumb. I was lost in my thoughts when I felt him grab my hand and lace his fingers into mine. I looked at him and smiled.
“Morning babe,” I said.
“Morning,” he said, “Man I must have really outdone myself. You were out like a light last night.”
“Either that or you’re incredibly boring,” I said, sticking my tongue out at him with a grin.
“Ass…” he said looking dejected.
“Oh don’t think for a second that I was serious,” I said with a smile.
He smiled back at me and rested his head on my chest. I took a couple deep breaths and went back to my thoughts. I must have sighed a couple times because he leaned up off of me and looked into my eyes.
“What’s going on in that head Josh?” he asked.
“Nothing, I just wish we didn’t have to leave so soon,” I said.
“I do too,” he said.
“So why don’t we stay a while longer?” I asked, “I mean, you’ve earned a lot of vacation time and my career’s pretty dried up at the moment. Brianna started school last week, so we really don’t have much forcing us to go back so soon.”
“Actually, there is,” he said.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“Well, there’s kind of…” he said.
“Spit it out Cam,” I said.
“There’s kind of a publishing deal waiting for you at home,” he said.
I sat up and widened my eyes.
“Brooke and I made a couple extra copies that day we had your book bound. After the fire, she sent a few out. She called me a couple days ago and told me that one of the companies responded,” he said.
I stared blankly into his eyes.
“Josh,” he said, “They want to publish your book.”
I tried to speak, but I couldn’t find the words.
“Josh, say something!” he said.
“I…You’re not joking?” I asked.
“Of course not,” he said, “I wouldn’t dream of joking about something like this!” he said.
“They want to publish my book?” I asked in disbelief.
“Yeah!” he said smiling.
Tears started forming in my eyes. “They really want to publish it?” I asked again.
“YES!” he yelled excitedly.
I dove into him and hugged him tightly. “Thank you so much,” I said, “Thank you so much Cam. For everything you’ve done.”
“Hey, you wrote the words,” he said, “I just licked the envelope.”
---------------------------------
I stood in the living room of the beautiful house, taking in the image and the memories. I sat on the armrest of the couch next to our suitcases and pouted a little. Cameron came out of the hallway bathroom and smiled at me. He extended his hand out to me.
“Ready to go home?” he asked.
I raised my eyebrow and closed my eyes for a moment. I opened them a second later and said, “Yeah, I guess.”
I reached up and took his hand. He pulled me into him and kissed me while wrapping his arms around me. I completely melted in his arms and fell into him. When he pulled away I took a deep breath.
“I gotta start remembering to breathe when you do that,” I said.
He smiled at me and picked up the bags. As we walked out the door, I turned and took in one more glance of the room. I smiled to myself as I thought about the offer that was waiting for me at home, and the future that was unfolding in front of me.
As we drove off towards the highway to the airport, I stared at Cameron. The light from the sunset made his hair glisten with the mist from the ocean that was in the air. I could see us back here in 10 or 20 years, moving into that house together. It gave me a warm feeling in my heart. All my dreams were coming true, and it was all thanks to Cameron; my life, my love, and my hero.
So now here I am; one year later. My book was one of the top sellers for months. I was invited to several talk shows, but I refused to go without Cameron this time. He was not only my inspiration, but without him my book wouldn’t have even been published. I want the world to see how happy he’s made me. Thanks to Cameron, I have everything that I’ve ever wanted.
Now, I don’t even have to stand in the rain to feel God’s presence.
