I'd want Hot Chip, Lady Gaga or Sam Sparro to win this one....but I have a feeling Madonna or Rihanna will take this one

i want hot chip to win too, but they won't lol; i agree w/ u about madonna or rihanna, but i acutally think it's goign to be a 3 way battle between daft, madonna, and rihanna just cause of daft's recent popularity due to kanye. edit: let make this clear the three way battle im talking about is a MISFORTUNE to people with working ears have to deal with on a daily basis due to dumbasses with money to blow on terrible sounds that current, popular artists like to call music.

For the 50th Annual GRAMMY Awards, albums must be released between Oct. 1, 2006 and Sept. 30, 2007. Recordings must be in general distribution in the United States, i.e. sales by label to a branch or recognized independent distributor, via the Internet, or mail order/retail sales for a nationally marketed product.

Maybe its late at night but i dont get from that the eligibility of Lessons Learnt.

LL wasnt even offered on Itunes.

The album can get nominated but the Grammy committee shouldnt be able to take an unreleased song from an album and nominate it over numerous worthy released songs.

3 way battle between daft, madonna, and rihanna

I still hold that Please Dont Stop The Music was robbed last year and as such i feel they will give Rihanna the Grammy to make up for last year.

Please Dont Stop The Music got the party started everywhere in the world. It just makes you wanna get up and dance.

Lovestoned does not do that.

I agree that 'Please Don't Stop The Music' was a great party starter - but outside of that I find it hard to tolerate; even at parties it was difficult due to it being repeated.

I don't think Rihanna deserves a Grammy just because she didn't get one last year - that just makes you, with your whole thing about Alicia Keys getting an undeserved award seem hypocritical.

But you making it seem like Disturbia would be unworthy.

Disturbia wouldnt be underserving.

Bum bum de dum bum bum.

Hey it got all of America dancing because of the 5 nominees Disturbia is the only one to have hit number 1 on billboard hot 100.

Justin is Grammy fave so they voted probably without even listening to all the tracks.

Madonna won Best Dance Album but they gave the dance recording to Justin for Sexyback? lol

This is the same commitee and voters that gave the Grammy to Sexyback over S.O.S and Madonnas Hung Up and Sorry.

Like i said Disturbia would not be unworthy of the win even if Please Dont Stop The Music wasnt robbed.

Put it this way even if Rihanna won last year for PDSTM she stiill has a legimate shot at winning on its own merits not because she was snubbed last year.

All i am saying is the Grammy people know they messed up last year so they are fortunate that Rihanna has given them another deserving dance track in which to reward.

I don't like Disturbia, so it's my opinion that Rihanna is undeserving of the Grammy. It sounds the same as everything else she has recorded. She shouldn't win a Grammy for releasing the same songs over and over - however, I don't like dance music anyway so I don't see any of them as 'deserving'

Rihanna rewarded them with another dance track?
She didn't do it for them!

The nominations are in the rap categories. He has been featured on almost everyones songs for the past year and its because of that he got the noms.

He is competing againts himself.

If there was a rule that you can only be nominated once per category he would only have gotten 4 noms.

So 8 seems like alot but its only because he is on everyones songs and because he released alot of his own songs in the rap categories.

Its not like he was nominated for record of the year or song of the year.

Its just in the rap categories.

And i already suggested why he may have gotten album of the year.

Im not hating on Wayne though congrats to him. He is finally getting recognition on the big stage.

Well, it's from her album "As I Am." I assume iTunes offered it on their album download? Maybe not, i don't have iTunes. But from what I gather from their site, regardless of whether it was a single or not, it can be nominated. Kinda dumb, but, whatever. It's their rules. lol. It WAS released to Smooth Jazz radio, however, according to MediaBase.

No its not set in stone.

They did it for Mary J Blige couple years back but its very fishy and borderline fraud none the less.

The Grammy commitee is making it seem like no worthy music was released so they had to go to always reliable Aliicia to get a 5th nominee

Well maybe they felt that they overlooked that song in the past. Much like you dear Rihanna's 'Please Don't Stop The Music' and felt they needed to rectify that by nominating her for an award for a worthy song which went unrecognised.

No its not better even if it wasnt Rihanna some other deserving artist could have gotten that slot. An artist that actually released a song to the public.

No thats a dumb comment because all of Rihannas material was released to the public so there is no comparison in this regard.

Dumb. Hmm.
I thought the Grammy's was about rewarding worthy artists for their contribution to the music industry. Therefore, any song should be allowed to be nominated.
What other artist would you prefer to have been nominated had it not been Rihanna?

There is not one nomination i listed that was unrealistic.

Oh and in 2008 Rihanna has contributed nothing worthy to the music industry to garner recognition? lol

Yes people will take you so serious saying that.

Did I say Rihanna had done nothing to Garner recognition? No.
I merely stated that any song should be allowed to be nominated.
And I'm sure people here are taking you completely seriously.
You also failed to answer my question, so I take it you had no other artist lined up who could take the award and that you were just saying there were other worthy artists, when in fact you had none in mind.

I am not the Grammy commitee and as such am not privy to all the eligible music this year so i am not in a position to suggest another nominee. However; what i am in a position to do is to know fraud when i see it.

I dont need to hear all the songs to know that she did not release Lesson Learnt and as such should not have been eligible.

^

As long as its released no problem.

Fair is fair and right is right thats all i am saying.

Well the song was on her album. The album was released. Therefore the song was heard by the public and is deserving of a nomination.

It is fair as long as the rules state it. And as posted earlier...the rules state that as long as the song was released in some way for public consumption(i.e. released on an album) it is eligible. I don't believe that "As I Am' was eligible for consideration as an album last year(edit: I'm right the eligibility was from Oct 1, 2006 - Sept. 30, 2007 and her album was released 11/3/07)...only "No One" as a single was eligible. Therefore now they are allowed to nominate "Lessons Learned" because it was on an album released in the eligibility time frame.
