Grammy Nominees

I doubt they will India Irie Lil Wayne somewhere in there they will give him a couple.

American Boy has Kanye on it.

Kanye is one of those no matter what i am on i will get a nomination.

Life Your Life should have been nominated instead IMO

The Grammy they give Lil Wayne shouldnt be for Swagga Like Us because i cant stand hearing rappers rap about how much money they have and clothes and cars. I mean seriously any song but that for the win in that category.

This was Danugh at her little rihanna party after Rihanna only got 2 grammy noms.:cry::cry:

:rotflmao: i love it.

Smash the pie in your own damn face for saying Rihanna got 2 nominations.

"You look so dumb right now" (Taken from Rihannas Take A Bow number 1 smash record)

Rihanna recieved 3 Grammy nominations NOT 2 so enjoy your pie.

There is nothing embarassing about getting nominated for 3 Grammys in a year you had no album out.

Sure she had a legimate chance of getting more but didnt; however 3 is is still something to be thankfull for.

Its wonderful when you get recognition for your work during the year and Rihanna was not overlooked.

I feel that if Lil Wayne doest get rap album it means he was nominated for AOTY soley based on its million dollar sales the highest of any album this year.

dude...look at what she is nominated for

1) Best Long Form Music Video: This is more of a directors award
2) She didnt write disturbia, and lord knows she didn't handle the production on the track
3) She gets no songwriting credit for her song with Maroon 5.

if you give these records to any type of startup artist on the Def Jam label they would have her success. She lucks out because she has great writers and marketing people at Def Jam. Any other top female artist from other labels can take these records and make them hits.

If it wasnt for the nominations i never would have found out about Sam Sparro. Is he a one hit wonder? or is he big in Australia?

Black and Gold is like my new favorite song since i found out about it a couple days ago. Its the only song that i would be ok with winning the dance Grammy if Disturbia doesnt win.

You are such an idiot i dont know why i am even responding and wont in future but you set yourself up for this one and i just couldnt resist.

First of all the video Grammy goes to the artist and producer and director. There would be nothing to produce or direct without the Grammy winner front and center doing her thing.

Secondly. Your such a damn fool for saying Rihanna didnt write Disturbia. So fucking what if she didnt fool?

Def Jam signed Rihanna on as a singer you FOOL not a song writer or producer or make up artist or fashion stylist.

Its called the fucking music industry and there is a job for everyone in the business. Not every song writer can sing and not ever singer has to write. Rihanna does have writing credit on 2 of her albums and writes when she chooses to. Rihanna however was signed on as a snger.

Third lol you made this so damn easy. The nomination with Maroon 5 is not for songwriting you FOOL. Its best pop collaboration not best song. Its not a song writers award its just for the vocal pop collaboration lol. Anybody with basic common sense would know that so you look like the dumb dumb you are for saying "She gets no songwriting credit for her song with Maroon 5." lol

As a student you FAIL

Yes well this isnt a general music thread.

This is a Grammy nominations thread.

So basic common sense would indicate that since Rihanna is nominated for 3 Grammys that she has every damn right to be talked about.

I wont sit back and have you or anyone else trash Rihanna without reprimand.

Sure you can have a personal opinion about Rihanna; but you will not belittle the Grammy winning superstar or discredit her nominations without a valid foundation and get away with it.

You need to learn to separate pesonal bias and focus on the music.

Rihanna never claimed to be no Celine Dion or any other powerful vocalist. Her first single was a dance track for crying out loud wich doesnt require much vocally. But it sure did make everyone get up and dance and eise to the top of the charts time after time in just 3 years.

The voice the Grammy winner blessed with was good enough to get her signed and in just 3 years that voice and Rihannas drive and determination to make it has made her the bonafied Grammy winning supertar that she has become at the age of 20.

Hate all you want and say whatever nastiness you want (like if it wasnt for Jay Z) ;but you can NEVER take her Grammy away or her success to this point.

Jay Z's rap was very short yet cute; but it was all about the chorus of the song and the ella ella.

But Ella ella aside, the lyrics were meaningful and it was a quality song all around and a quality Grammy winning collaborative effort. The rap was unecessary but there is no I in team.

So dont watch Rihanna watch yourselves and live your own life because Rihanna sure is and living on top of the world at that.

If you are going to talk smack about the Grammy winner, have your unbiased facts ready or else i will embarass you and make you look dumb.

Dicturbia vs Black and Gold

I have been listening to them back and forth and just cant separate them.

The voters are going to have a tough one ahead of them.

Go Ri Ri (!)

Is it just me or does it seem danUGH thinks the grammy's are his for some reason? i mean all this defence for these silly awards; maybe rihanna should just read this thread and give him one for effort

Yes well this isnt a general music thread.

This is a Grammy nominations thread.

Actually, based solely on your last 2 posts, this is an 'I never graduated from kindergarten' thread. That'll be the name of your new reality series in which you'll get to select which drag queen bitch who's more ghettofagulous than you gets the honor of beating the living shit out of you & slitting rihanna's vocal chords and putting yourself and all of us out of misery.

If you are going to talk smack about the Grammy winner, have your unbiased facts ready or else i will embarass you and make you look dumb.

I honestly don't think I would ever use the word meaningful to describe the song "Umbrella"....try listening to some actual meaningful songs and then maybe you'll be able to use it to describe something better....sure "Umbrella" was a catchy ass song that was huge...but in no way was it this amazingly written, beautiful song.

It's a pop song....are there fantastic pop songs....yes.....does Rihanna make some fantastic pop songs....sure....does she deserve the amount of praise that Danugh thinks she does.....I don't think so...but to each their own.....remember that Danugh....to each their own....stop shoving her down our throats in every music thread you post in!! If she wins her awards she wins them...we don't need you going all wikipedia on our asses everytime someone brings up that she's not their choice to win an award.

I am not shoving Rihanna down anyones throats but if people are going to attack Rihanna i will not allow it.

I had to use wikipedia because the Grammy site doesnt list 2007 nominees and also to refute Nik2's claim thus embarassing him for speaking on matters he knew nothing about.

If he wants to talk smack have facts.

but in no way was it this amazingly written, beautiful song.

Yes which is why it got a song of the year Grammy nomination last year which rewards a songs lyrical quality and goes to the song writers because Umbrella was just pop fluff and not meaningful in anyway lol.

I guess just because a song is "catchy" and "fantastic pop" it is incapable of being meaningful and beautiful and Grammy worthy lol

I am not shoving Rihanna down anyones throats but if people are going to attack Rihanna i will not allow it.

Yes which is why it got a song of the year nomination which rewards the lyrics of a song lol and goes to the son writers because it was just pop fluff and not meaningful in anyway.

where in the description of song of the year does it say that the song has to be meaningful? The song got nominated cause it was one of the biggest songs of the year...not because it was this amazing epic, love song. Song of the Year means just that...a big song that you couldn't escape....or in the Grammy's sense usually...4 songs you couldn't escape and 1 song you've probably never heard.

but now I digress cause I'm gonna go agree with you on something in another thread...cause I love Summer Heights High...haha

The song got nominated cause it was one of the biggest songs of the year.

Hence the record of the year nomination.

But correction not one of the biggest; the biggest song of the year worldwide. The figures are there to back it up.

Song of the year is different. It rewards a songs lyrical content whether it was huge or not.

Every year not every record of the year nominee is a song of the year nominee.

Umbrella however got nominated for song and record in recognition of how huge it was as a record and production wise; but also to the lyrical content.

And no song of the year doesnt state a song has to be meaningful yet that category rewards a songs lyrical quality. But on second though being meaningful is an aspect of quality.

If you check past song of the year nominess all of them contain meaningful lyrics or make you think or are relatable.

^I'm sorry. But I have to step in here. But what above average lyrical content does 'Umbrella' have? Umbrella-ella-ella-eh?

Not exactly 'Bridge Over Troubled Waters' or 'Butterfly' honestly.

And when was the last time a "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" nominated?

For the year 2007 Umbrella was deemed one of the 5 best lyrically. Its not fantastic pop fluff as some might have you believe.

Its a meaningful song about love and unconditonal friendship with the use of clever metaphors.

The meaning even went over some peoples head and that was obvious when they asked stupid questions like, "how could someone make a song about an Umbrella"

scains didnt know what a metaphor was because he was one of those not aware of what Umbrella meant.

Just because the lyrics appear simple or basic doesnt take away from the power of them and what they represent for love and friendship.

^I'd liked to see who deemd it one of the best 5 lyrically?

I mean, I like the song. And I like the 'umbrella' metaphor. But to me, the lyrics still seem incredibly simple; I feel as if my 8 year old neice could wrote the song. I'm not trying to downplay how good the song is. It's a great song but I think the problem is you are over-doing it with the praise.

And I don't think it's the girl's best song. 'Rehab' is much better in my opinion. And nothing she's done in my opinion could beat the incredible 'Unfaithful' (imo, her best song).

^I'd liked to see who deemd it one of the best 5 lyrically?

The Grammys did hence the SONG OF THE YEAR nomination.

Even if it didnt get nominated for SOTY people all over the world connected with it and it doesnt need a Grammy to justify its strong message of unconditonal love and friendship.

Whether it is Rihannas best song or not it was one of the best in 2007 and thats why it got nominated so many times and actually won one.

I believe it should have won record of the year as well because lets face it it was the record of the year, however i will not say that it was robbed by Amys Rehab.

I loved Unfaithful and that was robbed a nomination but thats in the past and i have moved on.

The fact is though if Rihanna released Pon The Replay and Unfaithful now it would have gotten noms but she wasnt the force she is now and got overlooked to other vets in the business.

Rihanna is the princess of dance. S.O.S didnt even get nomnated and that got the party started like no other that year. Sexyback my ass.

If Rihanna wasnt deserving i would be the first to say so but she has been overlooked alot in the past.

Pon di Replay was one of the best dance recording in 2005/6. It was getting all of America dancing based on its chart success.

The beat so infectious it just made you get up and dance.

No we are not.

I have responded to what you have said and answered the question you posed.

At the end of the day you have your opinion of Umbrella and i, the Grammys and the world we have our opinion of the song.

rihanna.jpg

can anyone else imagine what Danugh's parties must be like?

Hey "Pon De Replay" just came on...the party JUST started!

Hey "Don't Stop The Music" just came on...now the party has STARTED!

The whole world is dancing with us right now....

oh....everyone's left cause i'm only playing Rihanna songs......:(

Well you are entitled to your opinion but i know for a fact that Please Dont Stop The Music was the biggest dance song last year and did get the party started all over the world and should have been rewarded the Grammy.

I also know Pon Di Replay was one of the 5 best dance tracks in 2005/6 and didnt even get nominated.

I like other artists and my party is a mix of everything but that does not take away from the fact that Rihanna has prodcuced some awesome dance music that went unrewarded.

Well not totally unrewarded because she is was once the leading solo female artist this decade with the most number 1s.
