Grand Theft Auto 5 sells $800 million on day 1

Jack,
Go to Youtube and look up 'reaction video + ______________' (name any gross video and youll see teens recording themselves as they watch beheadings, '2 girls, 1 cup' (scat video), etc etc

Id be more disturbed that these 4 young guys are watching this than anything you see on Grand Theft Auto 5.
They are watching 'Mexican chainsaw beheading' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orYHEL8FDQY
Viewer discretion / graphic audio / no video shown of beheading
PS: Dont go past 3:10. You can hear the guy on video gasping for air

Question on 'Million Second Quiz'

It's a great game. The graphics are beautiful. I don't see how people say it teaches people how to kill, or become violent. It's M content game. You have to be over seventeen playing this game. Tell parents if they feel that this game is violent, don't buy it. A six year old probably shouldn't be play this game. Don't let video games become your babysitter. And video games don't make kids violent. I'm living proof of that.

I work in the 'industry' and I can tell you that figure is highly inflated, they are probably counting ALL the presales which are probably close to a few million copies, so $800m in one day is intellectual dishonest.

I did the calculation quickly when I wrote the thread and it was 1.3 million units sold but I just did the math again and it is 13 million units. That does seem like a lot of games bought, even with pre-sales

top-10-highest-grossing-video-games-ever . . .

1. World of Warcraft with 10+ billion dollars

4. GTA4 did 1.3 billion

It's ironic that games apps like Angry Birds costs 99 cents and can be as much fun to play as the $60 video game

I got it a couple of days ago. It's brilliant. I can't wait to really get into it over the weekend

That's an odd remark coming from our resident right wingnut who supposedly is a constitutionalist, agrees with the first amendment, believes in smaller government, and preaches the second amendment by wanting anyone who wants an assault rifle to have one.

I want an assault rifle? I don't think so.

wouldn't be surprised. they're overhyping the sales to make people think that they'll be no more copies left when they really overshipped the hell out of that game.

hell, if you want to know what's going to be sold out for a good minute, that ps4 and new xbox coming out in november for 400 bucks. very cheap for a new console though. MIGHT actually go out and get it IF my money is right.

Anyone who's a gamer is kind of used to this. Every latest iteration of GTA or Call of Duty wins sudden attention as the "biggest selling media of all time on release" or whatever else, and it's not for really any reason at all other than because they're some of the biggest brand-name game series and that more and more people are becoming gamers as time goes on. I think when non-gamers see a news article headline in a vaccuum with something like "Call of Duty x is best selling media in history" or something, it gives the false impression that just this one game is insanely popular or something, rather than the bigger picture that gaming period is getting larger as a market and industry, that more people are gaming, etc. America is finally catching up to Europe and Asia in having an actually proper, non-amateur basis e-sports community as a result of how much the game industry has grown. The reason for the endemic stereotypes of things like "Koreans are godlike gamers" isn't because they're actually any naturally better at games than some other ethnicity. It's because for 10 or 15 years before the U.S. they had actual professional gamers paid and sponsored to play and improve at videogames just like athletes of any other competitive sport or activity. Now that the U.S. has professionally paid gamer personalities and competitive teams as well, the gap is closing rapidly in terms of what faces you see dominating competitive gaming.

Grand Theft Auto is about 'the experience'. The map is HUGE. It is about 140 square miles.

Im going to be a 'noob' now and post videos of all the buildings and vehicles the game has.
Most buildings - I dont think - aren't enterable but it gives you an idea how big the game is and how much you can do besides shoot people. Its too bad that they dont make a kids version without guins so kids could drive through the countryside.

Video of all landmarks in the game:

Video of all drive-able vehicles in the game:

There are animals in the game. Yes, there is a hunting mini game from what I read but the animals are also there to make this game as real life and believeable as it can be. If you are in the country, you will see deer or a wild boar.

GTA 5 Animals
Bears?, Chickens, Cougars, Coyotes, Cows, Deer, Dogs, Fish, Hawks, Horses, Monkeys, Rats, Seagulls, Sharks, Wild Boars

I have yet to open my delivered game for reasons mentioned in 'what are your plans for the weekend'
I want to open it!!!

I love GTA V.

My favorite mission is when Michael's Wife leaves him and the son gives him the laced drugs and he acid trips all over the city. lol.

Trevor is not at all what I expected him to be from the trailers. Nice that rockstar put a different character with a unique personality that you probably didn't expect. He's such a kinky bastard.

^_^

...no spoilers!!!

"my favorite mission is" should have been a hint :-)

still doesn't give him the right to post spoilers for those of us that haven't played yet. :grrr: he could have thought about those of us that haven't received the game yet .

Grand Theft Auto V will require a mandatory 8GB memory installation on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation
http://www.insidegamingdaily.com/20...s-an-8gb-hard-drive-install-on-all-platforms/

I know this isn't a game thread but it BOGGLES my mind that no one playing the game mentioned you will need a usb flash drive if you are like me who has Xbox Arcade which isn't big enough for the game.

I'm installing now and I would have been disappointed that no one mentioned this. Thankfully I had a flash drive but I would have been irked had this happened to me.

Cmon, its just about being helpful
