In 50 years when I'm McCain's age, I hope I can say my generation wasn't afraid of people that are different. Or that we wanted to start war just for the sake a starting war. Or that being injured at war automatically made me "credible".

Every day that I hear more and more about McCain, the more I dislike. And he's MY state's senator too!

Yep -- he's served us by helping restrict free speech, advocating religious discrimination, declaring he would have no trouble restricting freedom of the press, enthusiastically supporting limitations on the right to be secure against arbitrary search and seizure... in other words, he's been pushing us toward a theocratic police state.

Most certainly. Here he is, former POW, and he's put great effort into moving this country toward being what a prior generation went to Europe to fight against.

If McCain was really into "straight talk", he'd start his campaign speeches with, "My fellow Americans, there isn't much in the Bill of Rights I agree with. I believe that government should be effective, and rights just get in the way. I want everyone to live like I did in that Viet Cong prisoner of war camp: under strict discipline, knowing that if they get out of line they'll be confined and abused. I want the police to be able to enter your homes at will, to search your financial records at will, to hold you indefinitely if they decide that for some reason you might possibly be connected to someone who they suspect could even remotely be a terrorist."
