My favourite Scottish accent belongs to Sean Biggerstaff's Glaswegian accent. I've heard him speak in interviews and have seen him only in the Harry Potter movies, but that voice and accent are enough for me. (Unlike Sean Connery whose accent came through even when he was speaking Russian.)

I have several that I love, including the ridiculous mocking accent of Groundskeeper Willie on The Simpsons, and Robert Carlyle, one of my all-time favorite actors.

Oddly, I've always liked Scottish accents but disliked most Irish accents. I think it's because they were so often done so badly in cinema, like Sean Connery's when he starred in Darby O'Gill and the Little People. It was as authentic sounding as the leprecaun on Lucky Charms commercials. Most were as bad as the lazy Hollywood actors who slop through Southern accents badly, like Olympia Dukakis in Steel Magnolias.

There are some very sexy Irishmen as well. I never forgave the show Angel for killing off Doyle.

Some dialects just sound like a speech impediment however.

The cormac thread sent me thinking (well, fantasizing) about being ravished by Scotsmen again. (hey, if I can't tell you guys, who can I tell?). And no, it's not because of that series set in Scotland that I won't mention. So I wonder if any of you have dated a Scot before and what was it like? Did they have a strong accent? Did they roll their rrrrr's? Did they like the bagpipe? Even the dirtiest details will no' ruffle my kilt! (might do more than ruffle it.)
