Greatest Female rock star of all time?

and we can't forget about my other favourite Runaway

Lita Ford

more Patti Smith
who else could play the last show at CBGB's

man i wish i was there

I grew up listening to PJ Harvey she is so talented. Also like Pat Benatar, Hole I love Hole. I also liked this British rock group called Skunk Anasie their lead singer Skin was a woman but they were only popular in Europe and not North America. I love Garbage they were pretty good for a while.

and we can't forget about my other favourite Runaway

Lita Ford

There she is, was waiting for someone to mention her. I like a lot of the ladies that have been listed. I like some for their voice, some for the playing ability. It depends on what my mood is. But I think my all time favorite is Ann and Nancy!!! I have allways liked them, since 197ish!!!!

The Corrs Sisters have always struck me powerfully. Visually and vocally.
Among the rare women that I find quite attractive. That's saying a lot.

I love Joni Mitchell.
I also love Grace Slick. Her songs always have mental and musical hooks to them.

Tori Amos, Shirley Manson, P!nk, Courtney Love, Liz Phair, PJ Harvey, Bjork, Chrissie Amphlett, Sinead Oconnor, Leah Andreone....

most of you guys won't know who she was
but for me she'll always be a the best drummer ever
and a great female rock star

RIP Sandy West

i couldn't read through this thread without promoting my girl. Ms. Joan Osborne, the greatest female vocalist I will ever know. everyone needs to hear her material, (anything except her hit One of Us). check out "what becomes of the brokenhearted" on youtube!

It's a toss-up between Janis and Tina--they are simply the best! I love Joanie Mitchell but I consider her to be more folk than rock. Other rockers I love are Pat Benatar, Amy lee, Pink, Grace Slick, and Annie Lennox, Chrissie Hynde, and Melissa Etheridge.

just the fact she [janis joplin] is being talked about 40 years later and the younger guys list her on their list proves she's on the top of the rock/blues queen, imo.

Huh, never actually heard of Terri Nunn until I just googled her haha. I've heard of a few songs and the band Berlin -- yeah, she's got a good voice for sure.

Don't get me started on Alannah Myles though! (spelled it wrong earlier, oops). I loved her debut album, the whole cd kicks all kinds of ass. It's too bad she didn't come along earlier because she really is one of the best female vocalists I've heard, IMO.

Her debut was amazing, so was the second album. She would have been as big or bigger than someone like Pat Benatar had she come out in the early 80's. Black Velvet pales in comparison to some of her other songs, Still Got This Thing, Just One Kiss and Kick Start My Heart all come to mind.
