It's my new addiction. Can't get enough of it. I usually buy a few tubs and eat one in one sitting. Can't find many of the other flavors of the Greek Gods brand that I love, however, other that honey, honey vanilla and honey strawberry.

Have you tried to make it yourself? Most commercial stuff is full of emulsifiers, thickeners and LOTs of sugar.

Making it yourself is tricky but I buy from a NZ company who makes easily-reconstituted yogurt powder. :)

you can buy unsweetened greek yoghurt and add fresh fruit, nuts, seeds, etc and it is ever so much healthier and less expensive. some manufacturer's flavored/sweetened brands contain high fructose corn syrup, which is particularly bad for you...

I certainly make sure that HFCS is never listed in any yogurt that I buy. I still like conventional yogurt more than Greek, but that is "working on" being changed. I like yogurt which isn't, well, RUNNY...but is really easy to mix something like cinnamon or granola into.

The strange thing about HFCS, I remember one brand (I think Dannon) doesn't have HFCS in its French Vanilla, but it's in some of their fruit ones.

UNRELATED TOPIC, but am I the only one who thinks that Bolthouse VANILLA CHAI drink tastes a *lot* like egg nog?

As a kid some Bulgarian friends of my parents taught us how to make our own yoghurt (same as Greek yoghurt obviously), and it was great - never bothered with other stuff since. I don't tend to make it myself any more because the economics of buying a pot already made for about 50p tend to outweigh waiting on it!

I cook with the stuff all the time as well - so its not just good for sweet stuff!

It's time like this I am glad the EU has pretty much made HFCS illegal in Europe!

Oikos plain greek yoghurt with some Indian pickle in it......divine.

Greek Gods brand is not really greek yogurt. The label says "greek yogurt style". It is made with pectin which is basically just a gelatin filler to give you less actual yogurt. And it has much less protein than real greek yogurt. So you would be better off with a different brand if you really want greek yogurt. My favorite is Fage.

The basic difference between greek and regular yogurt is that more of the whey is strained from the Greek, giving it it's thicker consistency. I prefer Greek because I prefer all things Greek.

Why anyone would buy the flavored crap is beyond me when you can add your own fresh ingredients, including honey for a better product.

If you like to cook, use that combination to mix or marinade anything and then cook with sautéed onions, garlic and ginger. You can vary with the kind of pickle used. Quick and easy - and fails you not!

Didn't expect this to become a lecture. I just like the different flavors they have to offer. I like Greek yogurt because it's supposed to be somewhat healthier than cow's milk yogurt and it's thicker too and lasts longer.

It's all cow's milk, dude. It's a dairy product.

There's a couple of good brands out there that I buy off and on.

Chobani, which comes from Upstate New York has a nice texture and taste. It's not too sweet and has a good amount of fruit. This is quite the contrast to Yoplait and Dannon which seem to cheat the public.

The other brand, which comes from a farm not too far from where I live, is Stonyfield Farm.

Their yogurt too has real fruit and also has a good texture.

I end up buying the Chobani more often because it's on sale while the Stonyfield Farm is always more expensive even when it's on sale.

I stopped buying Chobani when they had that outbreak of mold in their yogurt. Lots of people fell out of love with Chobani after that, including me.

Greek yogurt uses goat's milk

Greek yogurt uses goat's milk

Goats' milk has a distinct flavor which can be tasted in Redwood Hill Farms Goat Milk Yogurt (in the American market). If other brands of yogurt used goat milk to make their yogurt the flavor would be apparent, but none of the brands mentioned in this thread do.

I like it. I buy plain unsweetened yogurt and add honey when I eat it. Sometimes I'll add blueberries or strawberries. I would eat it everyday but it's a bit expensive.

This is exactly right. The yogurt the OP mentioned and showed pics is cow's milk yogurt. I happen to love goat's milk yogurt, but it would not be to the liking of many yogurt eaters.

I send all my semen directly to the Activia Yogurt factory.
