I'm sure it will be a hit. Green Day has already proved their staying power. Looking forward to it.
 
They officially sold out when they did the commercial for the NBA. By doing so, they lose their "punk" title.

The kiddies may eat it up, but those that have been fans of GD since Dookie will not buy this crap.

The new single makes me cringe. If the rest of the CD sounds like that, it will get panned. Then, it will drive Billie back to the bottle and he can actually write something decent.

the album leaked...haven't listened yet...but it's gotten some pretty good reviews so far.
 
I have been a fan since Dookie and am excited for this album.

Rolling Stone practically gizzed over the new album so I am excited. I don't like the single off it though, doesn't sound very...Green Day.

And everyone knows they lost their punk cred long ago. No one cares anymore.
 
THIS ALBUM IS EFFIN AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heard it. Fave song has to be 21 Guns, East Jesus Nowhere & Before the Lobotomy, really all of them are great. They managed to top themselves, I'm so proud! :D
 
Uh. I thought they were more anti-religion than actually religious.

But they did the theme song for the simpsons movie and actually were in the beginning of the simpsons movie. That was awesome. And they did a cover for working class hero.

I have never really known much of Green Day though. I listened to a few of their older songs on the radio which I kinda liked. The ones on American Idiot were okay.

I don't think they ever sounded good live though. I heard them on the "Bullet in a Bible" and not only did the new songs they did sound bad but the older ones they have done sounded worse. But that happens sometimes.

I'll wait til they stream the album on myspace. And if they don't do it I'll stream the album on rhapsody to see if it's worth getting.

I have seen them live, and I can say, they are amazing live. I was in the nosebleeds and we were all up there jamming hard.
 
The question is when did you see them live.

I know a band I used like called Goldfinger changed live once they had some more albums out. And when they revisited old songs it sounded a lot different because of their new sound.

Not all bands change live with the release of a new album though. Some still sound exactly like they did. It all depends on the band and sometimes how much of a change they make. Also sometimes those Live DVD's and CD's don't take the best shows. So there are all kinds of factors involved.
 
I got the album. I previewed some of the songs on Rhapsody.

I am used to artists changing their sound or changing drastically. It's not always a bad thing. And sometimes later on they go back to their roots except it's still a different but in a good way. It sounds like an evolution in their sound.

Regardless I actually like some changes that some artists make. And I don't really know Green Day that way. I know a few of their old songs so I am giving this album a chance. I'll let everyone know what I think of it once I'm doing listening to it fully and than listen to the songs a few times over.
 
I saw them live post-American Idiot and it was quite fun. It was essentially the Bullet In A Bible concert (i bought it) but truly live.

I strongly disagree with your entire post....and I was a fan BEFORE Dookie and I'm very much looking forward to the new tunes.
 
I really like the first new single from the album. It sounds unmistakeably like Green Day. And that's always a good thing.
 
Hmmm, i'd only give this a 3/5, after all, I did expect more.

Essential tack - Peacemaker.

It reminds me of Bob Dylan and more to the point Warning, which is a very good album.

I love it. I got it today and I think it is really good. I personally loved AI, but this is definitely back to old Green Day form mixed in with AI Green Day. Lovin it

I was gonna post that. But yeah I feel bad now cause I bought a Nirvana album from walmart cause I couldn't find it anywhere else. But I don't believe it was explicit. I mean I don't think the album itself was explicit. There was no clean label on it. But most albums I've seen at walmart do say "Clean"

Fuck that I like it dirty, raunchy, and kinky :D

But uhm yeah.

I actually really do like this album. It's growing on me. I just heard some songs from American Idiot and they weren't that bad. But this is much better.

I believe NIN said something about wal-mart a while back though.

I know Green Day isn't only the only one. And for the record I know alot of people who don't shop at wal-mart. I don't go there unless I have to. But in college it was all there was.

But yeah back on topic. Never really knew much about green day but I like their new CD. I am tempted to listen to their older work now.

But it's dangerous when I get hooked to new artists >.>
 
Oh right I forgot. I got the latest Eagles CD at wal-mart cause it wasn't sold anywhere else. That pisses me off.

And for Rock Band AC/DC Live expansion pack was ONLY at wal-mart which is really retarded. Wal-Mart is bastard like that sometimes.

Yeah I got Scars on Broadway at Best Buy. It came with the video for "They Say" too :D
 
I really like this album. The second single "21 Guns" is way better than the first.

Also I'm seeing them live in August for the first time. :)

And I totally respect them for the Wal-Mart thing. The ONLY time I bought a CD from Wal-Mart I didn't discover until after the fact that I had bought the "clean" version. I was like WTF? Last time I bought any music there.
