We have leafy greens grown in our garden, and we've been growing climbing beans every year for a long time now. Due to the prolonged cold weather, they've only begun to sprout out - we planted them back in March... We've just harvested about five pounds of spring onions, and gave four away to family.

I haven't done a lick of gardening in probably more than 20 years. Used to be we could, dad would tell us we could plant whatever we wanted wherever we wanted, but every time we did he would complain that we planted something in a spot he was going to use, so we all stopped and left it to do whatever he wanted.

If my contract is ultimately accepted I get to do my own gardening and that is actually kind of exciting as I have ideas. I tell you, I HAVE IDEAS!!!!!!!!

I have had mixed results but can grow a few things quite well. Right now I have some good tomatoes, pineapples and bananas. I also plant flowers and butterfly weed, just in the last two days we have had over a dozen butterflies hatched and released into the world. It makes me really happy to help.

I love gardening and can spend hours tending my plants and seedlings, like I did today. I love flowers especially, I'm not that interested in growing veg.
Over the past two years I've lifted and divided the perennials and spread them through the borders, filled the gaps with annuals and bulbs.

My main problem apart from heavy clay soil are the slugs and snails. They seem to love my favourite plants. Luckily they don't seen to care much for Acquilegas, pentsemons, monkshood, lychnis or my oriental poppies

Does anybody have any ideas on what other plants slugs and snails don't like?

We have about 4 acres of lawn and about an acre of gardens. I am so behind this year that I don't think I'll ever catch up.

I've managed to prune back about half the roses and burn off about 6 huge piles of limbs that the ice storms left behind this year but there are places I haven't even looked at this spring yet. Thank God that we have lucked into a really good young woman who is doing the mowing and trimming so that I might catch up a bit.

Because we are going to be in the Baltic for the month of August though, we just said fuck it as far as vegetables go and we're only going to plant tomatoes. Because my partner is not well at all this year, we won't do our own pickling so no need to plant all the beets and cucumbers.

I have to say that if it hadn't been for the bluebirds nesting in our houses this spring....I could almost be convinced to enjoy a penthouse view again.

I have miniature snails. I can put pellets down on the ground but it seems these snails spend their whole existence four feet above the ground eating my leaves.

I don't grow vegetables but I have a pretty nice rose garden that I'm very proud of. Most of them are hybrid teas and some of them were started from tiny cuttings that came from rose bouquets. I credit my fourth grade teacher with starting me on my love for plants. In her class we each had a small bean plant and each student was responsible for their own. It amazed me to watch them grow from a tiny nothing into a tall plant. It still thrills me whenver one of my baby rose cuttings starts sending up new shoots

I've got some a 'collection' of houseplants (useing the term 'collection' very loosely since none of 'em are anything fancy or special)
I also like growing vegetables & flowers..

I can remember even as a kid I always liked plants...whether it was houseplants or garden plants (flowers/vegetables/etc)

Yes, wolf's bane, monkshood or Aconitum, to give it it's Latin name, are the same plant.

Some of the them are growing brilliantly but they're not all growing at the same speed. I suppose I have to clip the tall ones till the smaller catch up

I'm good at growing plants in pots. I used to have a beautiful garden, but I don't anymore. I need to get out there and bring it back to life. Currently it looks like a bloody jungle.

"Green Fingers", in certain circles, is a name reserved for kids that pick their nose.

I have a whole album of pics of my garden here. This is from last year, but there are some changes since then - particularly the last two-thirds of the garden - and there are now steps going up the bank to the top garden (which had previously been unreachable). Still not sure what to do up there yet!
