Wouldn't it be fabulous if another election upset happens in the state of South Carolina?

Greene will be Democrats’ U.S. Senate nominee

By Wayne Washington
The State | 06.17.2010

S.C. Democrats rejected a protest of last week’s U.S. Senate primary vote tonight, meaning unknown Alvin Greene, who is facing a felony obscenity charge, is set to represent the party against Republican U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint.

When asked by NBC's David Gregory on Sunday if Greene's election was legitimate, senior White House adviser David Axelrod said, "It doesn't appear so to me. It was a mysterious deal."

Axelrod said: "The whole thing is odd. I don't really know how to explain it and I don't think anybody else does either. ... How [Greene] won the primary is a big mystery, and until you resolve that I don't think he can claim to be a strong, credible candidate."

But many political observers are becoming convinced that they do know how Greene won: A combination of faulty voting machines and foul play by political opponents.

Greene handily defeated opponent Vic Rawl in Tuesday's primary, winning with 59 percent of the vote to Rawl' 41 percent, despite not having run any sort of visible campaign, not having set up a campaign Web site, and being unemployed. And it quickly emerged that Greene is facing a felony obscenity charge over an incident in which he allegedly showed a college student obscene photos from the Internet.

So how to explain the unlikely election result? One theory, propagated by BradBlog's Brad Friedman, is that Greene was the beneficiary of phony voting-machine results. In 25 precincts, Greene received more votes than were actually cast; and while Rawl won absentee ballots by a whopping 84-to-16 percentage point margin, the election-day results showed Greene winning by 18 percentage points.

the dem establishment will run an independant and then endorse him.

I don't think demint's seat was ever considered up for grabs, so this is just political theatre in a state with dirty politics.

This looks like such a no-brainer! If a candidate gets more votes than the total votes that were cast, there is a bad election, and it needs a do-over. What I don't understand is why the Democratic party leaders in South Carolina can't see that.

it's south carolina... they are too busy calling each other sluts and ragheads to pay attention to such silly details...lol

Alvin Greene's victory is the logical conclusion of irrational party loyalty. Nothing more. Sorta like voting for prom king and queen back in high school. Not knowing any of them so you pick whose ever name you like most.

DeMint's seat is more than safe, even if Vic Rawl had indeed won the nomination. He's going to obliterate Greene come November. ..|

Somebody tell Rawl to go ahead and run as an Independent, the only votes he's going to siphon are from Greene.

You're not even in my home-State and you nailed it....Jim is an ICON here...Mr.Greene is a 32yr old young Guy with no money going into the General Election...Thanks to Congressman James Clyburn the young politician was DOOMED before saying one word after he won the Primary......

Voters do vote for politicians they never heard of. This happens all the time..Sad that Mr.Greene was picked on because he won votes fair and square...Not only that but Voters want Nikki Haley to be the next SC-Gov because the Alaskan Bitch is backing her...Those same voters can't tell you one thing the Republican Nominee hopeful is running on...

The only thing they know is Nikki Haley allows Fellow Republican Lobbyists to Fuck her brains out @ the office before she goes home and plays "Wifey & Mommy".....

Republicans are such undersexed Fuckers..."The Party of Morals & Values"...

Because they want it to go away. They know they don't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning the seat, so they're not going to bother with it. (which would only continue to draw attention to it)
